The traditional first anniversary gift is paper...I know sounds corny huh? Well, I made up the most adorable coupons, made out of paper, with all sorts of rewards on them. I spent a lot of time making them so they really looked GREAT! And I had coupons redeemable for the small and large alike...for example, one said "This coupon is Good for one night of total control of the remote" and then another said "This coupon is good for one night of total control over ME!" I am sure you get hate picture. But really think about your man and what he likes...does he enjoy fishing? Treat him (via coupon) to a day of fly fishing with a homemade picnic. Or does he like going out with the guys to the occasional strip club, well give him a coupon that says "This is good for one night of me as your personal stripper" (and rent a pole) or have the coupon say "This coupon is good for one night of clubbing TOGETHER" ...you might be pleasantly surprised as so are (or attempt to be) classy. Maybe your guy likes sports, make a coupon that promises you will act as if every word he utters about sports is the most interesting thing you ever heard. Make him number one by way of a small, but beautifully decorated and beautifully thought about, piece of paper. This way you are both traditional in the actual gift but unique in your approach. Good luck and always use your imagination!

if you want to keep in the traditional spirit of the celebration, you should give paper. do airline tickets count? or a gift certificate? i don't know. in a more modern fashion, the appropriate gift for a first wedding anniversary is a clock.

My husband and I always go away somewhere together for our anniversary. We rent a cottage in the country, we have flown over seas, and sometimes we just get a nice hotel room, just to change the scenerary... Good luck

It should be something either a)personal or b)he has wanted a long time.

What are his hobbies? What does he enjoy? Stick to what he likes. A good gift is one enjoyed by the reciever so no sweaters!

If he likes golf, buy him tee off time. If he likes fishing, plan a charter trip. If he likes sex, buy some lingerie for yourself and spend quiet time at home re-inacting your honeymoon.

An oil portrait from a photo of the 2 of you can be a very special gift. Try: www.paintyourlife.com - they do beautiful paintings in very reasonable prices.

Good luck

one of those nice shower-radio-cd-players! it seems like something so unnecessary, but the fact is that it really makes the showering experience so much nicer and more relaxing!

i just bought one of those cheapo-crappy ones for $7 -- it often gets static and i have to change the station, but it's still wonderful! if i had a good one with nice sound and everything, showering would be complete, heavenly bliss.
