If there is going to be an awkward silence. Like if he/she says something, then there is about to be a silence, just say "o that reminds of...." Have something ready in case this happens. MAke sure it is a funny story, you come across cooler that way lol.

Well, you don't always have to talk to break the silence. Sometimes just to look in their eyes and smile is more than words can do easily, and it always gets their attention.

If you find yourself in an akward silence without someone you really like, just yell something, as the startling effect on some is very entertaining.

Find a similar interest but something you really do enjoy and you can always
go back to that since it'll be something you really know a thing or two about,
it'll excite him to talk about it and he'll like the fact that you're into it as well.
For my husband and I it has to be football, even though we like different teams
we could joke with eachother about it, this was when we were where you're
at ofcourse, the awkward silences have been filled with the cry's of our two
babies!!

If you talk during the awkward silence, then it doesn't really exist in the first place, does it?

How about, relish in the silences? I know relationships where people could just "be" with each other, and it was cool.

Those silences always seemed awkward to me too. But you know, I don't think everyone is uncomfortable with them. I usually run my mouth with something completely off the wall. I don't remember a time that I watched a movie in its entirety. I always have to run my mouth. It would be in your best interest to let the silence run its course. It can't hurt . Or will it? ok I'll shut up

I agree. The silence an be good. If you can be with each other and not feel like you HAVE to say something, then you have something special. Next time it happens, just look into their eyes and smile and don't say a word. If they smile back, just give them a little kiss.

if you are together and the silence is awkward then is it right?... do you always need to talk about something... sometimes it is nice not to talk at all.... but when in doubt talk about fried chicken... it is delicious and everyone loves it.... you should go out right now and buy a huge bucket of golden delicious fried crispy chicken... it is a conversation stopper and starter... if you have nothing to discuss don't raise a fuss... grab some fried chicken and live life delux

Talk about what you think your purpose in life is. Even if you don't know, you will gain great insight from this conversation. Its amazing when you are able to step out of the moment with someone and look at your fate from afar. Trying to figure out the mystery of why you are here on earth to begin with will easily give you something to talk about without effort.
