Hi. I'll try to spare too many details. I'm having a really hard time in believing what I have been taught all my life. Being a Christian. I did a little research today and discovered to my surprise that out of the 6 billion people in the world.....amazingly 1/3 of us are Christian. That just amazes me that so many people know God. And I'm not saying that they follow His word 100% or are great Christians, but it amazes me that so many people claim that as their religion. I'm still having difficulty though and now I don't know why. I want to believe....but I'm having such a hard time. Is there anybody who can help me?

Don't force yourself to believe anything. Although it is mainstream to believe in certain things, it is my thought that there is no wrong way to believe in something. When you find things that you know in your heart are true, then you will accept them yourself without effort. Forcing yourself to think a certain way is being dishonest with yourself, and you shouldn't do that. Just keep looking, and the answers will come to you.

I read some of your answers, and they are right , you need to ask GOD for his help.He will listen if you trully want His help.I am going to go one step further and tell you an experience I had so maybe it will help you. 5 yrs ago I was hospitalized. I had alcohol poisoning. They weren't sure if I would make it through the night . Each day my chances got better , where in 5 days they said I would be ok. My organs were shutting down I was hallucinating ect. It was bad. They said I was one of the worst alclholics they had ever seen. I don't know if you know anyone who is an alcoholic but it is very hard to quit. I went to an inhouse counseling center.i would be typing all night if I were to tell you how bad I and my life was at the time. One night I prayed to GOD and asked Him to take this from me and oooooh... I so meant it. I really can't explain to you what happened but, I didn't hear voices, I didn't see angels or anything like that, but, there was a peace that came over me that I had never felt. He was there I know it. Oct 22 is my 5 yr sober date. I do not even think about drinking and I do not go to AA. That is unheard of in a recovering alcoholic. I should not be alive today. He can do anything, just ask Him. God bless and good luck.

What specifically are you having trouble believing? We could probably help you more if we knew specifically where you are having trouble.

Even though 1/3 of the people in the world are "Christian", I do sincerely doubt that even most of them actually know God or follow His word, though I genuinely hope I'm wrong about that. (And I don't say that self-righteously, but I say it with sorrow in my heart.) But there are many believers all over the place, and the Bible says the Gospel will be preached to every corner of the earth, no place will be left that hasn't heard it. So there will be people everywhere and from every place who believe in Christ.

Maybe you are having a hard time because you aren't spending enough time praying or doing good works. I know that I get to feeling like "Why am I a Christian?" sometimes when I am not being the best Christian that I can be (Which, like you said before, some don't follow 100% but do the best that they can) You need to do some studying, praying and merciful works, especially that. See your faith in action and how it helps others. Good luck and God bless you!

Honestly when i was confused I asked God. I don't think your having a hard time about believeing there is a God, I think that your having a hard time believeing what He wants for you. Take 10 minutes alone with God and tell Him your confusions. Call on His name and He will show you great and mighty things. In the name of God and according to His word, He will answer.

"We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death of the cross because of hte joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven. Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin." Hebrews 12:2-4

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Translation: The devil wants to steal your faith and abundant life.

James 2:19
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!

Translation: You'd better make sure you have more than "a demon faith".

2 Kings 22:11
Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes. 12 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor[a] the son of Michaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, 13 “Go, inquire of the LORD for me, for the people and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found; for great is the wrath of the LORD that is aroused against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”

Translation: The Word of God is your source for knowing the mind of God.

It's hard to believe in something you cannot visibly see. There's where the mind and heart comes in. You have to rationalize--is the bible literal, true or what? Did the big explosion cause the evolution of man? Think of the magnificent way the human body coordinates itself to work magically like it does. To me the human body is proof enough. Your conscious is another thing to consider. Your feelings, your spirit, His spirit, consider those. It's the spirit of love in your heart that makes you do the right thing or the good thing to help others and the world around you.

Study other religions. It will give you a completley different perspective on your spirituality. Just read what all ideas are out there so you when you do make your choice you'll be completley secure in it. Who knows, you might read about everything and then come right back to Christianity. But you won't have any more doubts, will you?

I sometimes feel the same way. But over the years i have become closer to this religion. I say you give it time. Expose your self to it. Learn more about Christianity. Go to Christian Events that have a whole bunch of kids your age. I just did that this weekend and it was incredible.
