Maybe you have OCD.

From a strictly functional perspective, blinking is a way to keep the eyes clean and moist. When the eyelids close over the eyes (as they do each of the ten to fifteen times every minute that the average adult blinks), they coat the eyeballs with three different types of fluid:

tears released by the tear glands in the eyes
lubricating oil produced by sebaceous glands found between each eye lash that keeps tears from evaporating too quickly
mucus that further lubricates the eyes and helps tears adhere to the surface of the eyeballs
These three fluids also help flush out any dirt or other foreign objects that might sneak past the eyelashes. Blinking can also serve as a proactive way of keeping things from entering the eye in the first place, by lowering the eyelids and lashes for protection — this is why people blink when something startles them or moves quickly towards their faces.

Blinking also seems to be tied to concentration and information processing. People who are deeply focused on learning or on a detailed task (e.g., working at a keyboard, sewing intricate needle point, or picking minute bits of lint from their navels) blink much less than those who are not actively engaged. They can become so engrossed in what they are doing that they actually "forget" to blink, causing that gritty, tired eye feeling. This wide-eyed tactic is not really necessary — the muscles that control blinking contract and relax so quickly that blinking does not obstruct vision. So, if you're prone to dry, scratchy eyes, the next time you're carefully scrutinizing something, be certain to practice batting your eyelashes occasionally to make sure your peepers are adequately lubed.

It's either that, or you could have extremely dry eyes. Here are some other things to look out for:

1. Makeup may be old

2. You have developed an allergic reaction to the makeup you wear (EVEN if you wore it before & it didn't bother you)

3. You share your makeup

4. The air in your environment is changing (ie. have you changed jobs lately? Went under extreme changes in air quality? Moved out of state? Etc, etc...

5. Do you wear contacts or glasses? Maybe it's time for a changed prescription.

6. Or simply, as I mentioned, you could just suffer from dry eyes, so you might need to use eye drops daily to bring the moisture back in.

Now, I'm NOT assuming you have any of these, just giving you some ideas to ponder. I'm a contact lense wearer and sometimes my eyes feel fine, and at other times, out of the blue, my eyes get so dry. I use drops more often now and I make sure I'm not around heavely pollenated or dander polluted air. That seems to help a bit.

Good luck =)

its true, ur tear ducts could be blocked. blinking is a way to stimulate the tear glands, and a way of giving the eyes rest from continous staring. There are eyedrops in the market that help to keep eyes moist, or maybe wash ur face with cold water frequently
