It seems like awhile has passed since the 'Harry Potter is Evil' fad was in it's heyday. Even my Mom, who believes everything she hears on the Christian radio station, has finally admitted that she was wrong about Harry Potter, and I haven't heard of anyone getting their panties in a bunch about it recently.

Has the fad passed, just like the 'Pokemon are Evil' fad passed? And if so, what is the latest popular book, television series, or movie that Christians have decided to hate?

What causes these fads? Is it just that Christians know they should be fighting SOMETHING, but they don't know what exactly, so they just attack whatever is most popular at the time so as to make some kind of a point to themselves? Who is the person who selects the subjects of these fads?

Spandex speedos are evil. I could get behind that. No pun intended.

For the fundamentalists, most everything sends them into a flurry of righteous indignation. Everything is unclean, everything is dirty, everything has shame attached to it. It's all about building up the guilt and, by association, building up the power of the church.

I think these fads are just caused when something is pouplar and powerful christians whom want to demostrate their religious power to manulaplate people into hating something that is even family friendly. There is nothing that I have notice yet, but they usually show up when a new part of an already pouplar movie...like the upcoming harry potter moive.

The fad are never going to be over, as long there are Cristians searching for power and those whom are easily courpted...fads will probally go on forever.

Here's a new idea for Christians to hate: Snap, Crackle and Pop on the Rice Krispies box. The fact that there are three individuals of ambiguous sex is a celebration of homosexuality not unlike the Teletubbies. Also, it is a vague allusion to the Fates, a Pagan concept designed to corrupt the souls of innocent children.

Plus there's always Sponge Bob.

Not all christians are like that. I looooove Harry Potter. I love halloween. I have a lot of Christian friends who like that stuff. I love spooky movies. The people you are talking about are finatics.I do hair so I talk to a lot of people. I have to stop myself from rolling my eyes or asking if they are for real when I hear " Harry Potter has withcraft and blah blah blah blah.Try not to stereo-type all of us in that " weirdo" category.Just stay away from those quirky peoople. Happy Halloween!

Haha, good question. My favorite target the christians had was the purple teletubby :)

I think they need these fads because its easier to unite people around "a cause." If you have an "enemy" people feel righteous and urgent!

I've been hearing a lot of buzz about eeeevil video games lately. Maybe that's their new pinata d'jour.

This is why Christians commonly get stereotyped as sheep. Somebody reads/watches/listens to something that doesn't sit well with them so they decide nobody else should "have" to read/watch/listen to this ever again. They in turn tell other people and then everybody gets all worked up about it. It's all human nature I guess. What we don't like we want to destroy.
