cuz if you ever get mad at the person, or worse, break up, you've got that permanent ink stuck on you and it's gonna take mucho money and a lot of pain tolerance + scars to get it removed

As much as your in love with them at the time how do you know you'll be with them for the rest of your life? I would never get someones name tattooed on my body. If you really feel the need to do it then look into Chinese writing, or something along those lines. This way (unless it's someone who can read it) no one will know what it says if something should happen and you split up.

That totally depends on who's name it is.
Names of parents, children, siblings and those who are deceased are usually good choices.
Names of girlfriends/boyfriends and/or spouses are not such a good idea because people break up and get divorced. The result is that you are stuck with a tat that you don't want. Also when you get involved again do you really think that your new partner will appreciate that tattoo? Hell no.

Yes, because if it doesn't work, you have to pay more money for removal or cover up. Sometimes, they can't cover them up either. A lot of people in the tattoo business say that is the first sign of relationship doom. Supposedly, once you get that name inked on you, things go down hill quick. I have actually seen it happen many times that way, even to married couples.

If it is someone you are close to and still living, you dont need a symbol to represent your care when you can actually just...live it out and show them the affection.

But unless its parents or kids or Jesus if you are very religious, I wouldnt suggest a tattoo for another person. This is because a spouse is the only thing you choose by yourself. You cant choose your parents nor your kids and i suppose if you were religious enough, you wouldnt change religions either. Maybe a spouse if they are dead.

very dumb...
shortsighted
silly
not very original

why? because what happens if someday the person who's name you have tattooed on your body decides to leave and the new gf/bf doesn't like to be reminded every time they look at you who was there first... Or what if the person who's name you have on your body turns out to be hateful, mean or a felon or molester...are you going to be proud you have their name inked permanently on you for all to notice that you were once with this person?

Do I really have to tell you?? You could break up so now the person is gone but the tattoo very much there so get it covered but the truth is you will always know what is underneath. You could get it removed, but that cost a lot of money.

To me this is way to risky. just get a skull or something.

Good luck.

Tattooing (marking a permanent mark into the skin) reveals your FINAL (and life-long) DECISION to STAY with that person. You had better have such a certain commitment with each other to stay together for life and longer or else you will remain "scarred" with that image, unless you can tolerate having it removed with all the side-effects and results after / if you do seperate (which is so common nowadays.)

I have my daughter's name tattooed on me, and I am glad that I did it.

A lover or husbands name, if you really feel that it will be a lasting relationship, then do it. If the relationship ever goes bad and you don't want his or her name tattooed on your body, then go get a cover-up tattoo.

I don't think it dumb. It's a form of expression. And unless you have it removed or tattooed over it will remain a memory of times past.
