There really hasn't been a true link between humans and formaldehyde as to how bad it can get, but it has been proven deadly to lab mice when exposed to high levels. However, Formaldehyde can damage cells by binding to DNA and thereby forming formaldehyde-DNA adducts; this process may interfere with accurate DNA replication and lead to mutations and cancerous tumors. So, I guess they're working on it!

formaldehyde is a potent carcinogen. wear safety masks at all times and work in a fume hood.
