coffee contains alot of caffeine, which technically is a drug, and can be addictive (to a slight degree). i wouldn't recommend drinking coffee until you have finished growing physically, at least for the most part. just like nicotine in cigarettes can stunt growth, caffeine has been found to do the same thing. between 16-18 is a normal time to start drinking coffee, and i don't know if i would want anyone younger start.

Most colas have the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. Either way the sugar from the soda will wreck your teeth and the coffee wil stain your teeth. Stick to water or milk. Get a good night sleep and avoid caffeine.
I let my 11-year old have a specialty coffee at Starbucks or Caribou coffee in the winter every 3 months or so as a "treat", but wouldn't suggest it for anyone on a regular basis under 18.

I'd say about percent of the student body at my school drinks coffee regularly, and 60 percent like 2-3 times a week and like 30 percent don't typically. If coffee was bad for minors there would be a law, and there wouldn't be as many Starbucks in New York where I live. But ya I guess I could understand you wondering since you probably live in the country no offense if you don't.

Well its not a silly question. Caffeine is a very adictive drug. My father starting to have heart flutters before he cut down from 14 cups. I say this as I have a Mt Dew sitting next to me ( i never did like the taste of coffee). I would say don't start at all if you can help it. That or maybe drink decaf if you like it for the taste. Some do say it stunts growth.. but its like fake sugar gives you cancer, everything is bad for you now.

alright, my opinion... whenever the kid develops the taste for coffee. most kids don't like coffee until they hit a certain point anyways. my gramma forced me to drink coffee when i was a kid, and because of that i am not a coffee drinker now. anyway, i got off subject. uum... i don't know that coffee's that unhealthy, considering you prolly already let the kids drink soda and kool-aid and stuff. i imagine the kids already eat and drink more unhealthy things every day.
Given this i would say that it's up to you when the kids should drink coffee. if you're worried about it being unhealthy, don't let them drink it, but if you're okay with them drinking it, i don't there should be a set age requirement

i think 16 would be ok i do not see no harm in that i mean if you can handle soda and mt dew you should be able to handle coffee. I think if the coffee does not affect you while in school and if it does not make you jittery then you should be ok. But if the coffee makes you jittery or affects your schooling in anway then i would stop. But i think 16 is old enough to drink it if your parents let ya.

I think occaisional coffee is okay for kids, but not on a daily basis. Probably 16 would be fine. Usually kids younger than that don't care for the taste of coffee. It's an acquired taste!

Let me reassure you, it's a pretty good question. In my opinion coffee should NOT be drunk neither by young nor old. It helps to speed up your heart rate, it always keeps you on a high with more often that not impairing your ability to reason effectively.
