Just when and how/why are you asking about?
Because they created major chaos in the whole region when they set up, back in '48, and the area has not recovered yet.

For those who claim Arabs and Arabs alone were aggressors, Ever wonder why they felt impelled to take arms? How would you feel if people from abroad decided to settle in a land occuppied by your folk for the last 1500 years, and acquired lands in questionable manner, before deciding to set up a state ruled by and for themselves and to just forcibly move the previous occupants of wherever they want to make their homes?

It is interesting that the ONLY country in the whole world that stood to benefit from our invasion of Iraq was Israel. And, Israel knows everything that goes on in the Middle East. They have agents inside of the PLO for crying out loud. They had to know that Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction, but they just stood by and let us destabilize the region. Yours is a good question because the first thing to look at is: Who stands to gain the most?

It's true that no one in the Middle East really cares about the Palestinians. However, that is an irrelevant point and a point made moot by your inaccurate recollection of history.

Great Britain and the United States created Israel after WWII (and it is something that could never be done today). And remember, modern terrorism was invented by Jewish radicals.

You do remember Menachem Begin blowing up the King David Hotel in 1946, killing almost 100 people, including many British solders (who were there because Britain governed the area at that time), don't you?

So let me get this straight. There is one jewish state and many arab states in the middle east and you want to blame the one jewish state for chaos in the middle east? Do you realize how Israel came about? In 1948 there could have been two states formed by the UN, Israel and Palestine. Each side wanted the whole thing. The jews said yes, thinking a half a loaf is better than nothing. The arab leadership said no. They wanted it all. Instead they got nothing. Since 1948 the palestinians have been refugees. Why is this acceptable to the arab leadership? Because they can use this against Israel. Meanwhile, the palestinians suffer. For politics. How stupid.

No......Israel did not cause the chaos in the M.E.

but.....YES! Israel is the cause of all chaos in the M.E.

Look at it another way.............if Singapore or Hong Kong were to be sited in the middle of Africa..........either will instantly be the cause for complete chaos in Africa!

.........and another analogy.........if you were to throw out a dollar bill..................in front of a mob of scavenging kids on the infamous 'smokey mountain' of Manila...................you'll end up with a helluva fight!

The Palestinians are a most unfortunate lot.........they end up as the scavenging kids among the rich and well-fed muslims of this world!

Every muslim nation will throw them a bone or 2.........and voice 'inlimited support' for their cause.............but none really give a damn on their survival or future...........if you have any doubt.........just talk to the in-the-street Palestinian refugees in the muslim & Arab countries (.....avoid asking the sme of those well connected, well fed & currupted Palestinian reps!)...............and ask them a simple question "How are you treated here?"

If the Gulf Arab states really want to help the Palestinians ....... they could all chip in and bought the Palestinaians the best gold-plated paradise on this planet with their petro-dollars!

(I know their excuses, mainly, it's not the same as getting your own land (Palestinian) back!..........Yea, get a magic wand and change history!)

NO THEY DID NOT.............it is the descendants of Ismael(moslems) that are the cause Israel ha sbeen there since the time of Abraham and moses.............It is not known as the Holy Land for no reasons. Israel and the jews are Gods chosen people/nation...............no matter what the muslims and the world throw at them they will survive because His hand is over them......yes they will be in state of war and hardship as they have been for ever......but they will Survive......read the bible

No,

Israel, by and large, have been the target of continual Arab aggression both by the armies of countries and by cowardly use of terrorists which they fund and supply to do their dirty work for them.

Svartarf, if you are a student of history you should know that there have been Israeli settlements in that region long before 1948 which existed peacefully till Arabs attacked them, instigating the formation of the first Israeli defense corp. The argument is not that Arabs and Arabs alone are the aggressors, there has been evil done by both sides, but that Arabs started the violence by their attacks on Jewish settlements in 1920s following violent incitement from Palestinian leaders. Furthermore, Jewish presence in the area has been continuous since biblical times

the govt certainly hasn't helped by repeated invasions collective punishment and violations of UN resolutions. Many others have also participated in making it worse. The actions have caused more and more radicals(on both sides) to take violence as their only hope for change. The vicious cycle thing is a part of it. I think the Israeli people themselves have often spoken up for peace and against the govt's warlike actions, but they also have become victims of fear and can be swayed to take the violent path when they lose hope.
For one the US has enabled her to get out of control by not "taking the car keys away" when the unruly teenager gets into trouble. We had a lot of opportunities to be a good role model and influence peace but we didnt take them.

Only by being alive back in the 1940s. From that time on there has not been any change. They are simply trying to live and everyone wants them dead. I never did know where they came from to start with? Germany? Who knows but they are there now and if someone don't like it go deal with them.. I really don't think they are going to move on their own free will and I don't blame them. It is theirs now and they should keep it.

For some one who studied history as you say you did you must have failed it very badly Svartalf! The problem started when the Arab countries in the region told the nomad Palestine's to settle the land that was already mostly in Jewish hands. NO Arab country wanted the Palestine's in their country and still do not even today!

Nope..
If every muslim laid down his arms today, there would be lasting peace in the mid-east tomorrow...
If every Isreali laid down his arms today, every jew would be dead and Israel destroyed by the end of the month..
No intellectually honest person can deny this...
Now...
Who is the trouble maker and cause of chaos in the middle east ?
