I live in Iowa, and I recently got a parking ticket. I turned 16 last February, so my license is still under a probationary period. I know that if I get any moving violations, it will reset my year probationary period and I'll have to wait another year to get my full license. Will the parking ticket reset my year period, or won't it affect it?

Since it's a parking ticket, there's no way of knowing who was driving the car at the time. A parking ticket is filed under the licence # of the car, so if it isn't paid it affects whoever's name the car is under, but other than that you just have to pay it and it goes away :)

The parking ticket has no effect on your probationary period. Only moving violations count. It does have an effect on your wallet, so perhaps it would be a good idea to minimize them.

Oh. I forgot. Not paying the parking ticket may have a very definite effect on your license.

How can a parking ticket be a moving violation. A moving violation happens when you are moving, thus the term, moving violation. So the answer is no.

parking typically means not driving. A moving violation means you are actually moving. Pay the ticket and watch where you park.

You will probably just get a fine, some court costs, and points on your driving record. That's if found guilty! Good luck!
