You can always fight the ticket. It is your constitutional right! I fight all tickets I have ever received. It's only been five in over 30 years of driving, but I've won them all. If the officer didn't show up in court, I won; I have the right to face my accuser. As far as the lights out thing, talk to a lawyer, or paralegal that works for a traffic atty. All state laws are different, so who knows what is legal in Main. You can only try, and if nothing else, you may wind up with a years probation or some other differed sentence. Good luck and drive safe.

Yes, 82 mph in a 65 is too fast... I'll spare the rest of the lecture. I have heard that there is a possibility of entrapment in this situation. If you are from out of state, pay the fine and hopefully this will not impact your insurance. If you live in state and can consult with a lawyer, it may be worth your while. Ultimately it will be up to the Judge. I am not certain that signing the ticket is actually proof of guilt, as much as it is you had the ticket explained to you. Good luck, and in your case.... ITS THE PEDAL ON THE LEFT!!!!! (C'mon, laugh about it a little, its not the end of the world :-) Unless you're a truck driver like I am, then its a felony... even in our own vehicles since the law was changed 4 years ago)

You can fight it but you wont win if the cop actually clocked you speeding and if you signed the ticket then you all ready admitted you were speeding, so there is not a whole lot you can do, he pulled you over, was his flashers going, you know his sex lights, the red and blues? If they were then he did his job, if his parking lights were not on then that is a whole different issue then you speeding.

Just because his lights were not on doesn't mean that you weren't speeding. I guess if you had a wreck after you sped by the cop, that didn't have his lights on, that would be his fault too. Why don't you just slow down instead of making excuses why you shouldn't be held accountable for you actions. Geez, and we wonder why the youth of today act like they do. With people like you leading by example it is no wonder they are learning that nothing is ever their fault.

none at all Other ticket myths: myth: There's a good chance the officer won't show up tor court. reality: It's his job to show up and he/she will. myth: If they write the wrong statute number on the ticket you can get off. reality: While this will get you out of a ticket it almost NEVER HAPPENS. The officer writes ten tickets a day; he/she knows the statute. So, sorry, pay up and buy a radar detector.

If you can get it thrown out for that , that's the dumbest thing I ever heard. If you were speeding why are you trying to get out of it? Pay your fine, be embarrassed and slow down next time.

I've heard that, too. But, the fact is, when you go to court, all that judge wants to here is you were speeding...no excuses. It may suck, but that's the way it works. Watch the speeding!

His parking lites have nothing to do with you speeding, no you won't win on that one. It is not a valid technicality.

They are supposed to but its hard to prove he didn't. Your word vs his. If he's a prick, the judge will probably know it and might believe you, If you don;t win who cares the asshole's day is botched because he has to go to court. Fight it!

Was he driving a moose? If so, he didn't need parking lights.
