*****The U.S. military has provided legal immigrants a fast track to citizenship, and they are taking advantage of it in record numbers, even if it means facing the risk of death or injury in Iraq or Afghanistan. Interest surged after President George W. Bush signed an executive order in July 2002 allowing immigrants with green cards to become citizens as soon as they are sworn in, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Since then, more than 25,000 immigrant members of the armed services have become U.S. citizens and another 40,000 are eligible to request naturalization. *****
This means that many illegals within the 17 to 42 year old age group wiill be working hard to get green cards. And, the US Army and US Marine Corps may become that in name only.
Also, legal aliens who are workinbg in Puerto rico and the US Virgin Islands and Guam are also eligible, and the US Military has thousands of them. Not all of them request citizenship, but most do. And as for Spider, what he said is wishful thinking. Foreigners have been allowed to join the US Military since at least 1968, when I went in the US Army.

If you want a better life go to school and get a degree. Most people who joint the military are not smart enough (as always there are exceptions) to get a college degree. . Im an immigrant who came to the USA nine years ago. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I now work for General Dynamics and make more money than a navy officer.

The operative word here is "Illegal". An "Illegal Alien" is breaking the law by trying to bypass established United States Immigration laws. That would keep them from being able to join.

Because they can't join the military.
You are thinking of Permanent Residents (Legal Aliens/Legal Immigrants). And they don't have instant citizenship, the residency requirement is reduced.

Illegal aliens cannot join the military, only american citizens can join the armed forces, before you ask questions like that then get the info first, I am not big on illegals but try to get facts before you ask questions that sound like you are degrading them.

Many of them do. A person does not have to be an American citizen to join the U.S. military. I am sure that they must have to know a certain amount of English. That would prevent a lot of them fron joining.

I grew up in L.A. In my high school, 98% of our ROTC were illigal. They knew they couldn't afford to continue school, since they weren't eligible for financial aid, so they wanted to join the military. My uncle was born in Mexico, he came to the U.S., and went straight to the army right after high school in 1982. He's been in the Army ever since. So, beleive me, some do, some don't.

What makes you think illegal aliens can join the military. We do accept foreign nationals but they don't come here illegally and then join. They join in their country and we allow it.I believe we only have that agreement with certain countries.Sounds almost like you are looking for mercenaries! lol
