I read an article that said that not only are Harry potter books being renamed, they are having words such as biscuits changed to the American cookie so that readers can understand.

So do you think American English is destroying real english? Can you provide examples?

Examples are Candy instead of Lollies, Cookies instead of Biscuits etc. It is just annoying that most of the world has to know how to use both words because one country has mutated the language

Language changes and evolves with each passing generation - it has done this for thousands of years and probably will not stop with our generation.

I do not see where American English is destructive - in fact, it may make the language more complex since we include many Asian, Spanish, and European words in our daily vocabularies that residents of other English-speaking countries do not use regularly.

We're just handing English back to the English in a better form, just like the Irish did a thousand years ago.

I wouldn't say DESTROY, because all language use changes within various contexts. Do you wonder whether the Australians have DESTROYED English?
