YOU need to talk to your Guidance office at your High School first.

There are other options -- like, for example -- there are Dual-Enrollment Programs where you can attend High School part of the Day and College the other part -- and EARN College Credit while completing your High School Diploma.

also ... there is the Option of Collegiate High School. This has to be applied for, and you should listen carefully to the dates you need to submit applications. The application process is VERY competitive, and most jurisdictions, this is only once a year to apply (mostly in the spring).

Hey man, I wouldn't listen to these people much. A CHSPE is NOT dropping out. It is a alternative to getting a diploma, by law it's 100% equivilent to a high school diploma. The only catch is having a different name, yes it looks probably worse on applications. If you go to Community College and get like a 2 year, then no one will EVER look at your high school background. Once you achieved something in college they don't care if you got a real diploma or a CHSPE. At his age too theres not many jobs he CAN get, and if he can it requires nothing special so I doubt they will even care if hes a drop out or if he has his diploma. These guys have not been educated on the CHSPE test (hardly anyone is anyway). Though I doubt you will be able to take it this year, the emergency deadline is tommorow and it's 135$. You might have to wait until March (85$) to take it again. As for getting on with life I am in your shoes, I am taking the test on the 21'st I hope I pass so I can get a part time job and take community college. If this is something you put your heart into go for it man, find education elsewhere, somewhere you can have a choice in areas you want to do. My reasons are a bit different I am credit deficient by a lot so anyway goodluck man I hope you find the best path for your life.

My biggest regret was staying in school. I was smart, and was finding school not worth attending. I stayed for my High School Certificate at the demand of my parents. Still to this day I see it as the biggest waste of time I have ever had.

I ended up with my high school certificate, quite high marks too, but i still did the same course i could have done 3 years earlier by leaving school.

So if you can do the CHSPE, and get a job i say go for it. It will let you do what you want, and as you are young you can always go back if it dosent work out.

Education is the best gift a man can receive, but it is useless unless he wants it.

No. I have many friends that did that....few actually graduated and others never did...still attempting to get to get their GED. most of them have turned to stoners without a life. i still hang out with them because they have been my friends since we were 8years old but dont catch any of their habits. they see me attending college and getting all these benefits from school and wish they could be in class with me rather than waiting tables for minimum wage. im a freshman in college and felt the same way you did junior and senior year...because there was no point...i mean, you're right...its high school. but stick with it and b4 you know it you will be in college and that is where the opportunities come in, even if your in community college like me. Getting out of high school will be the worst stop you can make in your life...always be ahead of the game.

NO. Stay in school. You are almost finished. Keep trying. You can do it. You never fail until you quit.
