Not enough to harm probably. But keep it away from him, there can be some cumulative effect. Make him pay for it out of his allowance.

Before you panic, read the ingredient list and see if the product even has any cocoa in it. Many hot chocolate mixes don't. If it does I'd take him to an emergancy vet clinic if you have one near by or call your vet as soon as they open. At 12 pounds he's pretty small. Chocolate is suppose to be toxic to dogs, but a few years ago my daughter's German Shepard ate a full 5 pound box of chocolates that got left sitting on the coffee table and it didn't hurt him at all, but hr weighs close to 90 pounds

It takes a good bit of chocolate for a dog to suffer any harmful reactions so if you're talking about a packet or two that you'd use for individual servings the dog will be fine. Put the cocoa mix out of the dog's reach.

I don't think it will do any harm to your dog if he ate cocoa mixed if it was concumed in little ammount...
But since you've mentioned the word HOT, I think you'd better take your dog to the vet ASAP coz maybe he got a burned tongue or mouth because of the hot cocoa mixed...

Although everyone knows that chocolate is harmful for a dog, there probably isn't one out there that hasn't eaten it. My sister had a 85 lbs lab that got up on her bed, opened the night stand and eat a whole, big new bag of Hersey kiss and not an ounce of trouble. My Queensland heeler eat my nephews big ol Easter basket and all those choc. bunny's were endangered...nothing happened. Unless you see your dog doing something weird, I wouldn't worrier about to much. Also, if something is going to happen, it will happen with in 1 and a half hours and it'll most likley start by seeing the cocoa again..good luck. :)

Wouldn't worry about - unless it is a chihuahua
No dogs shouldn't have chocloate (though no one told my one Golden 25 years ago who would steal and devour whole bags of Snickers bite-size and never even got an upset tummy!)
There is so little REAL choclaate in hot choclate mixes that the dog got a miniscule amount. 99% of dogs wouldn't even notice

Your dog should be fine. Theres not enough cocoa in it to kill them. If you notice any thing wrong with them.. persistent diarea, not eating etc. take them to the vet.

All dogs are not supposed to consume chocolate. It's very bad for them. I would take the dog to a vet asap, just to check and make sure nothing is wrong

The dog will be fine, just watch him and see if anything changes.

Don't worry...it's the really dark real chocolate that is the danger.
