Yep. You can pierce your own lip, and you can take out your own appendix (true -- it's actually been done!) but most people don't regard either of these as do-it-yourself projects.
If your sister wants to do it with the pointed nail thing she has, it's your choice whether you let her or not. But first ask if she's ever done one for anyone else, how she sterilizes her pointed nail thing, and how she plans to freeze your lip so you don't go through the roof when she does it. Either that, or go get a professional to do it.

You can do it, I know people who have, but keep in mind that even with a sterilized needle you're putting yourself at risk for infection. If she really feels she has to do it herself, make sure she buys a sealed sterilized never-been used needle.

I haven't done it so I don't know how that works, i assume it's like piercing your ear. Probably want to numb your lip first (when I did my ears I used an ice cube to numb my ear, it works pretty well.)

however, having seen the nastiness of infected piercings, I'd definitely recommend getting it done professionally. I don't believe it's even terribly expensive.

OW! I sure would want a pro to do it. Really, it's safer and it isn't all that expensive. All the jewelry stores in our Mall do it, and for free they provide the jewelry and the cleaning solution and Good Good advice! on how to keep it clean and help it heal well. Don't take chances, you could get a life-threatning infection and the doctor visits will cost you more than the professional piercing will!

Sure you can do it but DON"T. Lip piercings are particularly good at getting infected so if you must, get it done by a doctor.

Tell your sister she needs a license and some minimal training in sanitary/antiseptic techniques before you'll let her anywhere near your lip.

No way, you're a great candidate for infection on the mouth
if you need to have it done, have it done professinally.
Think about it, if something goes wrong, you're running around for a month with a fat lip and that isn't worth it .

DON'T DO IT!!!!! You could get a terrible infection and scarring. If this is something you really want to do it can wait until you can get to a professioal.

Uh sure you can do anything. But remember this is your FACE. Do you really want to mess with your face? Leave it to the professionals.
