No, the thing with cutting is that it is related to the obsessive compulsive disorder and that is related to the repression of emotions. So maybe you´ll get some gratification for a few hours but then th epain will come right back because you are not dealing with the exact reason that causes the pain. I recomend youfind out what is making you ache and deal with it in a more contructive way.

before trying thisI think you should try to find someone professional to talk to about it-average people dont understand and cannot provide you w good answers.Someone who helps you delve into why you are thinking this direction would be best-a nursein the emergency room or a hotline operator or a counselor at any type of center/healthcare facility would be great. Otherwise or until you decide to do that-try a trusted person such as a clergy person from your placeof worship or just go into any placeof worship and ask for someone to talk to if you've never been before. It's best to give yourself some time to consider this ebfore gettinginvolved doingit and then it may be hard to stop. BTW be honest withthe counselor or doctor/nurse and tell them you have been thinking about it a lot etc.Im sure others will answer with some more detailsso keep checking back here as well. Try to take care of yourself and not inflict any damage to yourself while waiting to get someone to talk to. Do some calming activitiesor get involved in some social activites where you will be safe. Dont stay alone much.

When a cutter cuts, it releases endorphins that produce a temporary euphoria. However, it cannot be sustained unless the cutter continues to cut, so there really is no end in sight once it starts, much like a drug addict. It is better to get professional help and treat it with prescription drugs and/or therapy (a combination of the two is the most effective).

No, it just takes the focus off the emotional pain. Once the physical pain is gone you still have the emotional pain to deal with. Those who cut themselves say it does ease the emotional pain but in reality it doesn't. It's a mental illness. It's their way of self medicating.

No it makes the pain worse. Yes at the time your doing it, it might feels great, but its leaves scars for life. Your only cutting to block the mental pain for physical. I cut for ten years and it will become an addiction if you do not get help.

It's a pseudo-pain reliever. You will feel better for the moment, but the pain will only come back stronger when the endrophins released by the cutting wear away and you realize what you have done.
To directly answer your question, it feels like the pain is going away, and you may trick yourself into believing it, but it really only makes it worse.

NO cutting is a mental illness. Self harm or neglect are all signs of a much deeper problem.I have cut to stop voices this works for a while but the rebound voices are worse and you still have the original problem plus shame as well, not a good option. Try something else

Temporarily. The underlying problem, that's causing the pain and the need, is still there. This is an illness like any other and people need help. If I were a diabetic, and someone said, get over it, don't be that way, could I? If someone is cutting, their problems have exceeded their ability to cope. Nothing to be ashamed of, they should go for help. It is possible to be happy again.

No, but it gives the illusion of controlling the pain.
When you inflict pain on yourself, you control your fear because you subconsciously believe you're in control of the source of your pain. It's an attempt at transferrance of emotional pain to a physical state, which is much more managable.
