Mexico has a much different policy regarding accepting immigrants as opposed to providing them. Their laws are structured to make it extremely difficult to live in Mexico if you are a poor foreigner. If you have enough money it's possible to stay there for as long as you like. If you have to work for a living you won't be able to find work in Mexico. Most of the higher paying positions are reserved by law for Mexican nationals.
The government casts a blind eye on the excessive brutality and crime committed by their police agencies on immigrants. It is well known in south america that you have to pay bribes is you wish to pass into Mexico.

Yes, but when I was there, they were the Federales and did not have the title 'Border Patrol'. And you think the stories you have heard about what our Border Patrol has done to some immigrants crossing over to the US is bad? The Mexican Federal government makes a point of insuring what they do to their 'illegal immigrants' doesn't get to the media. Virtually every immigrant coming into Mexico from their southern border, at the very least, has to pay a bribe. More commonly, their things are stolen, they are beaten, the females are abused, and then - they just disappear. But the Mexicans will never admit to that because it would tank any argument or discussion they have with us about what we supposedly do their immigrants.

They put people in jail for crossing their borders. You only need to get into some of the Latin American websites or read some of their newspapers.
I get a Central American human rights online paper. What they write is incredible and scary.
If you want information on immigration go to the website: Studies on Immigration they also cover other immigration problems around the world.
More you know you will understand the problems of immigration today.

What we are seeing is a lot of lies. People lie to proove their points. Latin Americans don't emmigrate to Mexico and when they enter in Mexico is to use it as half the way to United States. Only 70.000 South and Central Americans live in Mexico, and they are not poor immigrants. It's really childish to think that Mexico has the right to shoot in immigrants and that it wouldn't cause any international repercussion. Mexico has good relations with almost all Latin American countries. It's ridiculous, to shoot in an immigrant as a state policy is almost a declaration of war.

Yes. Only I believe they deal a little more harshly with people who don't respect their border.

Yes, and fences. And they enforce their laws. The unofficial enforcement we see in the papers tends to be quite vicious at times, in fact.
