Novio is spanish as well a lot of spanish and italian words sometimes are the same.

we usually say "il mio ragazzo" for "my boyfriend" even if ragazzo literally means Boy.
If you are to be married you can say fidanzato (fiancee)

fidanzato is fiancée ie you are engaged to be married.
ragazzo can also be used - just literally means "boy"
