There are many traditions of Wicca like there are many denominations of Christianity. The best way is to find a teacher, but that can be hard to do sometimes especially if you live in the bible belt like I do.
There are many good books out there like Wicca and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham. Wicca for One and Buckland's complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland are also 2 good choices.
The best on line source is witchschool.com.

HAH I know Silver Ravenwolf and she's not a phoney or a sell out!
Now that I've said that, there are a ton of books out there that are good. My favorite authors are Aleister Crowley, Lon Milo Duquette and Israel Regardie. But, those authors are more ceremonial magick than wicca.
Some great beginners books are Modern Magick by Donald Micheal Craig, Scott Cunninghams Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, Raymond Bucklands Complete Book Of Witchcraft, A Witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar and To Ride a Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf.
Do yourself a favor and just read everything about witchcraft and wicca that you can get your hands on. The local library is a great place to start.

First off dont ask on Yahoo! Answers. Second go to a few websites that are listed below, also find books that are suited for beginners. I like Scott Cunningham, and D.J. Conway. When first starting out you will want to have a good support group, that you can ask questions, and receive honest answers. Be carefull when searching on the web, because you will sometimes find bogus websites that mislead, or condem.

Also, feel free to explore ALL religions of Paganism before you decide. There are many different ones, Wicca isn't the only one.

Try www.witchvox.com or pick up any book by Scott Cunningham. He wrote books for solitary witches. The first book I picked up was called Simple Wicca, a good basic book. Otherwise just google it and you should be able to find a ton of information.

Scott Cunningham is a great Wiccan author and many of his books are specially written for the beginner. Starhawk is also a good writer, but her stuff might confuse a beginner. I recommend starting with Cunningham and then exploring other writers.
www.withcvox.com is a great website.
I also recommend that while you're looking for the good Wiccan books you STEER CLEAR of writings by Silver RavenWolf. She's a total sell-out and a phony.
Blessings to you.
