Buy a child/infant fare so the child will have her own seat. Then carry her on-board in her car-seat and strap the car-seat into the airplane seat. She will be much happier in the car-seat because she is used to being in motion in it; it won't be that much different for her than riding in a car. This also gives you free hands for the entire flight so you can tend to her, play with her and if she falls asleep you can read.
Babies travelling on laps are pretty unsafe. I'm actually surprised it is still even allowed in the US. An unrestrained baby can easily be bounced loose from her mother's lap when you encounter turbulence. I've seen it happen twice and neither time was the air all *that* rough. But the babies ended up on the floor just the same, and one hit his head so hard on the seat in front of him that everyone could hear it. Adults need to wear seat belts while seated in the plane because the turbulence can be so strong sometimes. You should make sure your baby is just as safe as the adults, and she will be if she is in her car-seat.

depends on the baby. I've travelled when some babies are on the plane and nothing happens. worst part for them seemed to be when the pressure in the cabin changed during ascent and descent. Nyquil would NOT be recomended. imagine a bad reaction at 35,000 feet? No ambulances or ER room up there. Ask your doctor. or if you live in Ontario Canada call 1-866-797-0000 tele health ontario. free health advise from a registered nurse. They may suggest a childs dose of gravol or something. but if you decide to medicate. ask a professional. not a buch of opinionated goons like us on the internet. we don't have to live wit your decision. you do.

get an evening flight, preferably the plane takes off about 1/2 hr before bedtime, the baby will sleep, and your schedule won't be messed up. also do not make a big deal about the trip, you don't want her/him excited.

Keep the baby up for hours before.. Do not let the baby sleep... Whenever he/she tries to sleep start playing with them.... Do not let them sleep til the plane takes off... Will sleep right through the whole flight...

I took my son on a plane when he was 10 months and whenever we took off or landed he would go to sleep. something to do with the gravity on their little bodies-same thing happens to people on rides like the gravitron. u can bring benadryl. books, snacks, portable dvd's with lots of baby movies. I hope that helps and have a safe trip!
