Great, congratulations! why are you a burden, this country is lacking educated fresh mind. You are an asset!! For the universities you better wait for the temporary resident papers (or something like that) which gives you the right to apply for finacial aid and stuff as an american citizen. It also depends on how efficient and fast your INS office is.

Good Luck!!

Danalee don't worry about answer # 1. People are cruel and heartless. I'm happy for you and your soon to be husband. Enjoy the married life. It's wonderful. Once your citizenship is finalized, you have the same rights as a born citizen. Good luck with the schools.

Well, I would wait a year, only illegal immigrants get in state tuition. The rest of us must establish residency in your state, and depending on your school this is usually about a year. You'll need ID, proof of residency( you'll have to check with admissions on this, since you won't be eligible for some things, like registering to vote, until your citizenship comes through), and possibly other things. However, if you have money to spend on the out of state tuition, you can start now. All this is assuming of course your documents are in order until your citizenship comes through, though I doubt your state(CA?) will check. They don't do it for anyone else, why you?

And yes, you will more than likely be accepted.

College is critical to be successful in the US economy, so I would suggest you get on it as soon as you can. Since you are getting married for love and not a green card it should be easy to validate yourself and your actions, so if a university will accept you, go ASAP. Congrats!

check with your immigration attorney or the university financial aide or admissions.
you may be an instant in to stay but you may not be a resident fro financial aide purposes.
fro California even out of staters have a year to wait to avoid foreigner fees.or at least in the old days when i went...
ps:
welcome!

As soon as you become legal, that is a permanent resident or citizen (if you are not one already)
