Dude. You blow enough smoke...

You could rent yourself out to cities, in the summertime and fog for mosquito's.

I don't know if I would care for caviar, as I've never tasted it, but could you please tell me how I could get the fancy cars, and the air'conditioned dog house? (Maybe I could use it for myself in the hot summer).
Seriously, I recognize the story from the air conditioned dog house. That particular "preacher" did a few years in jail for his fraud. Any glib talker can get on tv, and claim to represent either a political movement, a religion, a charity, and make all sorts of claims that will get gullible people's money pouring in. People should be a little more responsible in the way they contribute money. You contribute where you know the people first-hand. Believe me, most preachers do not see money like that.
I read an interesting article in Time Magazine about Billy Graham. As his evangelistic organization is well'known and has done a lot of good, a lot of people contribute to it. However, Billy Graham himself is on a fixed salary basis and no matter how much money is sent in to the organization, he is not one penny richer. At the time the Jim Baaker scandal was the big news, these reporters really did a thorough job of investigating Billy graham and his organization, and gave them top marks as far as financial integrity is concerned.
It's a lot more fun reading about and talking about the scandals, even ten, 15, or 20 years later, but I think if you look into what most Christian organizations do, you will find a lot of self-sacrificing people who are extremely careful of how money is handled, so that as much as possible will be used for the various causes they represent. The few thieves usually eventually get caught and punished. When that doesn't happen, I'm sure God will catch them and punish them.
Oh yes, there are still some of those "preachers" who tell you: "one'tenth of your money to the Church, and God will give it back with interest", or "Send your money into our organization as a proof or seed of your faith, and God will bless you". That is fraud. You give to church and-or organizations because you believe they will use it well and you want to help, not because you are hoping for some personal advantage. You cannot buy God's favours. Then again, only a noisy few so-called "preachers" try that racket. Don't throw out Christianity on account of a few crooks who misuse it. No more would I throw out democracy because some of our democratically elected politicians have misused funds.

Do you actually know a preacher that spends money like this or are you just insinuating? I'm guessing its the second.

I've never known a preacher that spends money on fancy cars and caviar.

Preachers do have to support their families though. they have full time jobs outside of their pastoral duties.

There is nothing wrong with a pastor having a nice air conditioned house or a new, safe dependable vehicle for his/her family. There is nothing wrong with them going on family vacations or going out to dinner. They spend a majority of their time serving others and they should not live in poverty just because they are a pastor.

You are being ignorant and mean spirited.

Someday we will all have to account for what we've done with what we've been given. And the Bible says that "to those who have been given much, much will be required of them".

I think the days of the PTL club and Jim Baker with his air conditioned doghouses are a thing of the past---leastways I hope they are.

I know that I wouldn't want to be in those preacher's shoes on judgement day!

Not all people, "preachers" included are truly doing the will of the Lord. It makes me angry when people take advantage of the tithers in the church. Will that stop me from giving? NO because I am giving it to God. Not all "preachers" spend the tithe unwisely, it is the few who spoil the rest of their reputations.

I'm sad to say that there are people who claim to be disciples of Christ but do not follow what they preach, or worse, preach the wrong message.

Jesus told us to love God. That would be the number one commandment. But the second is also very important. He told us to love our neighbors. I'm sure God would've rather had us spread the wealth or at least feed some of the hungry with it.

As a Methodist, I'd like to recommend to you to research about this crazy guy named "John Wesley". I know I probably wont reach that level of commitment, but man, I've got to aim for it!

Air conditioned dog houses?? Never seen one of those before. That's so awesome. They just say it's "God's Money" but what they really mean is "give me your money so i don't have to have a real job".

Well I've seen him on the TV
Preachin' 'bout the Promised Land.

He tells me believe in Jesus.
And steals the money from my hand.

That was "Something To Believe In" by Poison.

That song says it all.

Don't confuse wolves in sheep's clothing for true Christians. They're scam artists who run around misquoting the Bible to try and justify their greed for money.

Jeremiah 7:11 - "Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it," says the Lord."

Matthew 21:13 - "And Jesus said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "

Because they are an extension of God. Everyone always complains about other peoples' jobs being easier and paying more than theirs. If you're jealous of them and you think you can do as good a job, go for it!

You are stuck in the 90's, I think.

If preacher's use God's money wrong, He will deal with them.
Why don't you think about where YOUR money needs to go?

One tenth of your money to the church, comes back ten times over.

You MUST have faith!
