The hardest way to hurt somebody is to betray their trust...and direct your emotions and feelings towards another person. Regardless of if you are face to face to someone, or directing your energy to somebody through a screen, you're still involving yourself emotionally ..and most times sexually with somebody who is NOT your partner. The whole point of being with your partner is because you feel something special with them, and you can share your feelings with them..share their bed.

If you did not have a computer screen seperating you from this "other person", you would most likely be sharing their bed anyway. Therefore, the intention is there...I consider it cheating.

Always put yourselves in the other person's shoes...would you not be jealous if your partner was doing the same thing to you? I know I would feel really betrayed, hurt and upset. Maybe that's your answer.

Yes it is cheating. When you are dating someone and emotionally involved then are stupid enough to "date" someone on the internet and are emotionally attached its cheating.Cheating is cheating regardless of if its physical or not and sometimes emotional cheating is worse. But my question how do you date someone on the internet, odds are he/she is telling someone else the exact same bs lines they are feeding you

If you have any kind of a relationship you are keeping a secret from your significant other, that sounds like cheating. If you are able to say, "Hey, look what my friend wrote to me," it's probably okay even if there is a little online flirting going on. But if you hide it because you know your significant other would be upset...the problem seems obvious.

Yes!
You are sharing emotional intimacy that should only be shared with your partner. You are taking away from your relationship with your partner. That can be just as hurt-full and damaging as physically cheating.

If it's a romantic relationship, yes. It's emotionally cheating if you don't see this person face to face but if you do see them, hell yes it's cheating.
