I suspect that lots of parents go through their child's candy and pull out any items that aren't completely sealed. Therefore, although it's a bit more expensive, I don't even bother buying stuff like suckers with the twist-on wrappers (Dum-Dums). How about you?

I know a lot of parents are really paraniod about the candy their kids receive (as they should be) so I always buy tamper proof candy. I like to buy the big bags of pre packaged candies like Skittles and M&Ms.

I try to stay away from lolli pops, Starbursts, and tootsie rolls.

That way everyone has a happy Halloween!

There is no tamper proof candy, sorry. If a bad person want to tamper with candy, put drugs in it, etc. They'll find a way. A very skinny needle will slide right into any package, and you'll never see it. Not trying to start a scare here, but the truth is the truth. You just have to live, Hun, and not be so paranoid about things like this. The best thing to do is to take your child's candy bag to a hospital, and they will scan it for you. Listen to the news and they should have hospitals, and other facilities that will check out your child's candy if you're afraid. Good Luck. Happy Halloween

Sometimes I give out candy to the kiddos I know with a note in the sack telling the parents where it came from and sometimes I go to a dollar store and get a bunch of fun little toys like tiny playing cards, little tooth brushed, crayons, colored pencils just small things that will entertain the kiddos. OMG, get this one year this business person in my area gave out books of matches with his logo on them! Who would have thought such a thing was a "good idea" ... some people are idiots!

Happy Holiday a bit early!

I'm not sure anything is tamper-proof anymore. That said, we're giving out Hershey's Miniatures again this year. Usually we just get our neighbors anyway who know us.

Also, thanks for reminding me that not only do I need candy, I need to have a basket to put the candy in that goes with my costume. I love seeing the kiddies, and asking them what they are. I don't recognize all these new cartoon characters.

I go through my little one's candy and pick out the twisted candy and toss it. I then promise to buy a big bag of replacement candy. If we go to a known house, I would let her eat it.

If you want something sealed and cheap, go get SweetTarts. There are only 3 candies per packet, but they are sealed like a candy bar.

No i've got in no way heard of any real circumstances, merely thoughts. My mom would not enable us to consume something that did no longer come wrapped. So unhappy because of the fact i admire candy corn and hated to work out all of it get dumped into the barrel. whilst i became a newborn my well-known residing house gave out quarters.

Nothing is tamper-proof. Anyone can stick a tiny needle into a wrapped candy bar and poison it.

I just buy whatever's cheap but tasty and pass it out. Whether or not they want to eat it is their problem. I give away the candy I get to my friends, though, unless I'm totally sure it's completely sealed.

I think thats such a good idea and more people should do that! We had a problem with that in our city when I was younger, people somehow were handing out candy that had drugs injected into it. Thankfully my parents cared enough to check ours! Thats nice that you think of others that way! Thank-You!

Of course... I don't want what I buy to go in the trash when the kids get home and the parents go thru to see whats safe or not... i want the children to enjoy the holiday... it broke my kids heart when they watched me trashing candy and they didn't really understand why... they don'y realize how bad the world can be..
