I have no idea whether his mother is an evangelical or not. Could be. Evangelicals can have mentally ill children just the same as others can. We are not exempt. As far as being 'bad people', evangelicals believe everyone is basically bad and needs to be redeemed, or born again - a term you might be more familiar with.
Evangelicals believe and teach that every individual must come to God on his own, it is not a collective or family thing. There is no garantee that an evangelical's offspring will turn out great, although it is to be hoped.
On the other hand, have you ever made a serious statistical study of how children of evangelicals turn out in general, compared to children of other groups? I'll be honest with you, I haven't done that. But judging by the tone of your "question" ' comment, I suspect I could have pretended you and totally bluffed you out.
In any case, I trust your children will turn out alright, and that you will turn out alright. You may not be an evangelical, but you might still have good children.
Just a question - did I detect a certain bitterness there? Have you been hurt by an evangelical somewhere along the line? Or do you perhaps come yourself from an evangelical family, and are expressing your rebellion? I'm just a bit curious why you should bring this up.

Check your spelling. Evangelists/Christianity does not produce either salvation or evil/bad people. Evangelists/Christians spread the word. Satan spreads the deceptions. Mankind makes the choice. When will we take responsibility for our actions and stop blaming God/Satan? Man has choice.

It has nothing to do with Christianity. It's the people themselves and the paths they choose to take. Even though his mother was what you say there could have been weird stuff in the home. No one knows what goes on in the home.
