Did he destroy a loving people? Nope. He destroyed murderers, rapists, cruel, and continually wicked people. People who were given the chance to repent and follow God's blessings. But they refused to change their murderous and evil ways, and they got what was coming to them. God is just.

Ezekiels 18 : 32 ...For I ( GOD ) take NO pleasure in the DEATH of him that dieth , saith the LORD GOD : wherefore TURN YOURSELVES , AND LIVE.....so you see brother , that is God's true colours... a loving God who INVITES the SINNER to TURN and be SAVED... Rev 3 : 20 ... I ( GOD ) stand at the door and knock , if any hears my voice , and opens , I will come and sup with Him...INVITATION...but SIN is what God hates ..He destroys the SIN and unfortunately , after the invitation is given , the SINNER still holds on firmly to SIN, therefore is destroyed together with the SIN.... Those who were destroyed " Blasphemed against the Holy Spirit for this is the only sin that God cannot forgive... and so the wages of sin is death...in the past , the present and the future when Jesus returns...Some of the offences seem small but in God's eyes there is no sin that is small or big... all sin is the same : sin is the transgression of God's law ( I John 3 : 4 )..the point in here is that there is no more remedy for such and it can also happen to you and me , a christian...the sin against the Holy Spirit or the UNPARDONABLE SIN... Also , I believe these instances serve as examples to all generations ...May God Bless you

Funny you should mention that; I just saw somebody post an answer to another question about whether Allah is the devil, saying that "Any god who tells people to go and kill others is not the real God" or something like that. I just sort of stared at it for a minute. Hello?!? Have you ever READ the Old Testament, self-proclaimed Christian?

If you believe the Bible God has been killing people in huge numbers since the beginning. He has set up a Hell that in reality only the smallest number of "sinners" could possibly deserve if he was a loving God. He has willingly allowed millions to die with out offering any help. As I write this 13 year old boys fight, kill, and die in brutal cival waes in Africa while God does officially zero. Never in the history of mankind has God done anything that remotely resembles the actions of a loving parent,as we are supposedly his "children" If God does indeed exist then he is at best an absentee landlord, not caring what happens as long as the rent gets paid. At worst he is the purist form of sadist, looking down on the suffering he has created with a sense of glee, even the thing he supposedly did to save us,sending his son,has actually made life on Earth worse.

We all really get mad when a human "plays God" and takes a bunch of other people's lives. Why? Because, supposedly, God is the only one qualified to do such a thing (being God, the master of the Universe and creator/judge of all mankind).

So, why is it NOT ok for God to suddenly "play God"? It is ok for God to miraculously free people from slavery, or bring the dead back to life, or heal others from sickness, because that is loving? But it is NOT ok to strike down slave-holders, or stop armies in their tracks, or pass judgement on mercenaries? How is that not loving?

I hear a lot of complaints from people, on how they want God to "stop" people from murdering, and raping, and thieving. They want God to perform some sort of super-spiritual intervention on the criminals and terrorists, and save us the effort.

It doesn't always work that way. Sorry.

Well, I'm not sure if all those stats are right, but if you take those verses into context, it was nothing more than God punishing men for their sins (which we all deserve). The children killed by a bear were actually teenagers who were gonna stop Elisha from spreading God's word.

The God of the Bible is a loving God. He is a God who allowed those people to eat food, to have the sun rise on them, and to have the opportunity to recieve everlasting life.

I'm going to give you my Catholic view on this.

God gave us life and He can take it away from us. At any time, in any way, for any reason, Why? BECAUSE HE IS GOD.

He either took the breath of life out of non-believers or ordered some of His believers to kill them becaue they were awful people and their ancestors were also awful people and if they continued to live, their desendents would be awful people. The Bible clearly states that when you sin, the next 5 generations will suffer because of your sin and they will also sin. So He has the 'right' to take certain people, cultures, communities, families off this planet. He doesn't kill or have a person killed because they committed one sin one time. The people mentioned in the Bible that He had die were desendents of people that had committed grave sins generations ago. And since these families or cities never learned their lesson (and God gave them plenty of warnings) He obviously didn't want this grave sin to continue. He actually did them a favor because be having them die, their desendents would not have to suffer the consequences because they wouldn't have any desendents then.

You see generations suffering now from prior sins committed by others. For example, a 16 boy today molested his younger sister and her friend. He says that he did it because his father molested him. His father says he did it because his father beat their family. His father says he beat his family because his mother locked him up at night in a cage. On so on. This family obviously has mental problems and instead of someone breaking the cycle and getting help, they all continue to abuse each other down the family tree and thus being the cause of the next one's sins. The Bible refers to non-believers and homosexuals most often. Being an active homosexual and being an atheist is a grave sin. You are willingly gong against God's plan of creation. An atheist family raises their children as atheists and their children as atheists, and so on. God doesn't want to see 3,4,5,6,7,8 generations of atheists sinning and then gong to hell. So He takes the 3rd generations' lives away so no more atheists have to suffer. In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, these were homosexuals that were killed by God's onw hand. He warned these cites for over 40 years about their sex lifestyle and everyone ingnored Him. So He decided to end it all right there.

I personally think that He still does this "weeding out" generations of sinners by causing natural disasters. I know tons of people will be angry at me for saying this and I understand their view on this. But I have lost 4 friends and 2 relatives to natural disasters over the past 10 years. I personally don't know if they were the sinners (we all sin) are if there were killed becasue of their location but were innocent of greed, pride and homosexuality. When all these people die, they face God and He tells them what's what. We see this happen all over the world and when you truly open your eyes to this and understand the Bible and God's word, you can see which communities, cities, countries, and also family lines that are continually sinning. Sinning for a long time after having heard God's word and HIs warnings. He doesn't want to 'kill' His creation but He does it from time to time so the future doesn't have to suffer so much. He created a great flood that wiped out everyone but 8 people, along with many animals. I don't think He was rejoicing during all this. But He knows the future and can alter it. And we have no right to questions His motives. He is God and He can do everything and anything. He never has to justify Himself to any of us. Ever! God is a fair judge and brings justice to all fairly, in His time and on His grounds.

If people don't like this, then they better turn back to God and pray and change their ways. He doesn't take a life because someone said "Oh, my God!" or tells their mother to F off or steals a car. He is taking the lives of people that keep following the ways of previous sinner, of non-believers, of abusers, molestors, homosexuals, blasphemy, etc. The "big" sins that stain the world for generations. And He right can do so.

I have to watch myself so I don't lead my son into my sins. I don't want him to suffer because of me. If I end up in hell, I don't want him there also. And I want him to care for this family and grandchildren and so on. It can be a 'win, win' situation for all.

He sure is a loving God. Do you think those people were a bunch of boy scouts? He had a very good reason and His justice will make perfect sense on Judgment day. I hope you get it figured out before then.
