I'm being serious, think about it, bread contains wheat, sugar and yeast, add water and you pretty much have beer.

Ok, for the people taking pi** out of me....The first beers produced were made about 5000 years ago by egyptians who would soak they're leftover bread in water and wait for it to ferment then they would add different hurbs to make it taste better. Please stop being so f**king arogant to assume that you know everything. I am only interested in answers that may actually help me out here.

No, I can't say that I have either heard or tried this. I see your point and chemically, it could potentially work. I think that to be truly effective, you would want to find a dark bread, add hops and simmer this mixture together until the bread and hops have broken down. I would then add brewer's yeast while still warm, but not scalding hot.... yeast is one of those organisms that will be dromant when chilled and die if too hot. That being said, you will need to allow the yeast to become active within the mixture and then begin to chill it slowly. It sounds risky as far as being a potential food poisoning hazard. My expertise lies in professional cooking more so than brewing, although I really love beer. So my answer is from the aspect of a professional chef. And finally, I would suggest that this mixture is strained thoroughly through cheesecloth or muslin prior to taking a taste test. Good luck and be careful, my only warning is that you could possibly make yourself EXTREMELY ill in this process.

It does contain yeast but you need to add hops and malt as well. You would need a few loaves of bread though.

I don't think it can be done cos the yeast already been activated, when the bread was baked and prepared.

lol!! sorry mate!! (i'm laughing so hard)

a loaf of bread just... doesn't ... have what it takes to make beer.

neither does water, neither does bread and water mixed together!!

how long areyou prepared to wait for this procedure to take place? Did you know that only JESUS can perform that kind of thing?!
