You can first solo at the age of 16 and get your private pilot's license at the age of 17. I think that the FAA may have recently changed the minimum solo age, however. I do remember a 14 year old who recently soloed both a helicopter and an airplane on the same day; no small feat for anybody of any age!

When you say 'can', I am not sure if you meant kids are capable or airlines will allow. I have seen kids 6 or 7 flew alone. Flight attendant will take care of them on the way until they meet their family at the arrival.

Depends on the airline, normally there is a 50 dollar fee though for minors traveling alone. If they are 14 or so, and you feel they are responsible enough, just book 'em on an adult ticket.
