Ask your doctor. Depression in itself can cause weight gain. If you are still depressed after taking a medication it is not working for you it should only take 2 weeks to get into your system. Call your doc and ask for something else

Find a drug that works for you and makes you feel like you should. Worrying about your weight gain so much seems a clear sign what you are taking is not for you. It's only been a month, these things take time. Wait a few more weeks before you decide this isn't the drug for you.
Once you find the right combination that works for you, you will see that there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. You will get through this and by the time you are cuddling your grandchildren you will have forgotten about all of these hard times.
Try a little more patience, and if you don;t feel better, try a new drug. Have you tried paxil, it seems to work for many people.

I am on Wellbutrin XL 300 this will be my third month. I have just started losing weight. I too was very depressed and added a small amount of effexor XL I feel much better....I have lost 10lbs. and still losing........I forget something it takes a couple of months for the medication to build up in our systems (I really can relate to what your saying I have been there more than once) It's hard but just give your medication a chance to build up in your system it seems for ever I know

Talk to your doctor about the problem your are having, 3rd generation antidepressants tend to be better with not causing weight gain, if you are taking anti psychotics then quitipine doesn't tend to cause weight gain.

As far as an antidepressant that doesnt cause weight gain, I had luck with Effexor XR. I lost about 15 lbs over 3 months.

I take Effexor and it works great! I've been on it for about 5 years or more. It does not make me gain weight. In fact, it has a stimulant effect so it might help you lose weight.

Excersize. Take up kayaking, hiking or rock climbing. Heck, just go for a walk. This works as well if not better than antidepressants with GOOD side effects.
