Egypt writes its own history. Why would Egypt want to write in its own history how it was defeted. Until recently and only in modern nations history always favors who ever is in power, for example I think north Koreas missle test were a "success" in North Korea. I also heard that in Egyptian history there is mention of expelling a group of lepers refering to the Jews.

Other proof that it happend is that my parents say so. They know because their parents said so. A whole nation believes it did happen and has always believed so. It seems impossible to get a nation to believe that their ansestors experienced the 10 plagues, parting of the Red Sea, and everyother miricle. The kuzari principle is based on this. There are many other proofs of the old testament which includes exodus.

The only proof that has been found to date is in Egypt. The Egyptians wrote everything down and there is evidence of a great number of people leaving and evidence of water being parted on some walls in Egypt. Right now that is a big topic in archeaology.they have something on one of the discovery channels this month called The Exodus Revealed, Or The Exodus Decoded. It takes in detail about the Exodus and who was the pharoah at that time and ect. ect.You should check it out.

there is not really any evidence for the exodus. there is an egyptian hieroglyphic tablet that mentions the hebrews/israel but its not very specific. there is some historical evidence for "plagues" afflicing egypt but nothing on the scale like the book of exodus describes. there is no evidence found of a people living in the desert.

egypt not mentioning it, however, does not say very much. in practice, egypt almost never recorded any defeat, all evidence of their defeats throughout history were destroyed by the pharaohs in an attempt to erase them from the collective memory. most evidence scholars have of egyptian military defeats came from testimonies of surrounding nations, since the egyptians had destroyed all the evidence.

The fact that the Jews are not still in Egypt today working as slaves. The fact that they do occupy PART of their own country of Israel. If you'll recall God told the Jews to go in a take over the land (of Israel). He was GIVING them the land. They sent out spies and two reported back that it was impossible to overtake the people residing there. Becuase of the doubt of only two they disobeyed God and did not take the land. The nation of Israel occupies only a small portion of the land God gave them. There has been war and civil unrest in the Middle East since that time.

I'm digging in some back pit in my brain, trying to remember bits of my Ancient History class...my most excellent professor, Terry Wick (UWSP), said that the Exodus probably did happen, but the numbers of people who left Egypt were probably nowhere near what the bible states, maybe 1/10th of that. I don't remember what evidence he had that it happened, other than the bible...hm, where is my notebook from that clas?...

There is no record of it on the Egyptian side and they kept pretty good records.

It is also very suspect that Ramses was the named Pharaoh. He is arguably the most powerful ruler and that would not have been how he would have been seen by history that way if he had lost a slave insurrection. It just doesn't seem to match any other record.

And 600,000 adult men left with Moses. Some estimates assume about 3 million total people (women and children, etc...) plus cattle. A loose group of that many people would extend for 340 miles. Hm....

Well considering that it's the 2nd book of the bible in the Old Testament. That should be enough proof that it happened.
