The pulses seem to always be near a joint e.g. hip, knee or elbow The pulse seems to show itself in one area for a few weeks and then it disappears and reappears near some other joint.

absolutely normal. Depending on the angle of flexion/extension of the joint, body fat index, and even angle of light can affect the visibility of superficial arteries.
