I've always felt this way, I'm not sure what it is. What I do know is - I'm not happy. I know when I am happy I feel like a boat load of stress has been lifted off of me, and I don't care or worry about things as much as I usually do. I feel cheerful, act noticeably different, and feel alot better about myself. Thing is, this happens very rarely, maybe once a month for an hour or so. To be more clear, you know that feeling you got when in school, 5 minutes before the final bell rang, and it was time for a weekend of relaxation and pure fun? Well that's happy for me. You know when all your teachers assigned projects to you at the same time and over your weekend? That's how I feel most of the time. I'll admit I'm worried about ALOT of things going on in my life right now (n so I know that's not helping. The first words that come to my mind are stress and depression. Maybe it's a combination of both.

I'm an optimistic and ambitious guy. I never let things get to me because I know I have a future and the freedom to do what I want. Regardless, I still feel this way. It would be nice to know what it is so maybe I can take the right steps to treat it. Anyway, I really appreaciate the help. Thanks.

It sounds like an anxiety disorder, or depression or both. If you have the means, i'd suggest talking to a psychologist about medications which you'd be on for about a year and the wane yourself off of them so you can be happy without the medications. If that's not possible, see if there are ways to reduce the stress in your life, take walks frequently, buy a full spectrum light, eat chocolate, like that.

NO THAT ISN'T DEPRESSION AS I HAVE COME TO EXPERIENCE IT. It does sound like anexiety and stress. However to much aneixty can lead to depression and vis versa. If you are depressed things look gloomy and hopeless you wouldn't speak of your future and personal will/freedom as you have. Basically you seem to be discontent which is were a large number of people settle for. Not saying you should you need to take time to find something you enjoy that brings you joy. Some find that in a sport, hobby, games, books, mentoring, coaching, studying language or cooking. Take up an interest that will give you that joy and lift more than you currently experience it.

You know what, you are just feeling empty inside. You have a big hole in your heart. You know there is much more to life than what is to be seen. The problems in your life right now just add to the depression. If you want to find true happiness, you have to look within. External things only give you temporary feelings of satisfaction and then you'll feel lonely again. You need to feed the soul. Your soul craves for a meaningful life. I don't know if you believe in meditation. But meditation can help you find true happiness and peace that your soul so yearn for.

You do sound like you need to do some research on depression & see if you think you need to talk to a doctor. If it is truly real depression then it could get worse.
