I used to have the VHS of the program. I did it and lost weight. It was very effective and it was easier to do than going to a gym. You just did it in the living room. It was part of my routine along with dieting and weights. It really gets you toned. I started with the 3rd tape, I did not do the first two. Try it and Good Luck!

From the top...
To lose weight you burn more energy (calories) than you consume. To lose 1 pound a week, you have to burn off 500 more calories than you consume each day (3500 a week).
If you're 160 pounds, walking for an hour at 4 mph (one mile every 15 min obviously) will burn up 375 pounds. In addition, you'll build up muscles that will increase metabolism, you'll burn off stress (that makes you eat), and will be nowhere near food for that hour.
BTW, don't do sports drinks while walking -- just look at the label and you'll see why (simple carbs, calories).

Anything you do to help get yourself inshapre is wonderful. As long as your smart about it.
Walking is a great way to lose weight. Personal I suggest interval walking, walk at a nice pace for 5 or 10 mins, then spped walk for 2-5 mins, do this for your distance, then after you get use to it, up the distance. You will be just fine. Good luck to you
PS Watch the food you eat try and eat healthy..always

Went from a size 18 to size 5 in 9months of speed walking. Great for your spirits to melt those lbs. off and get fit and trim great for depression self esteem ect. Only 13 years later developed "heel spurs". Had surgery and gained some lbs. back but One yr. after surgery i hope i can still speed walk. They (heel spurs) came from excessive wear and tear on feet only downfall from so much walking. Good luck !

Diet and regular aerobic exercise (walking in this case) are generally successful at helping somebody lose weight. I was successful at losing weight using this core concept without any other dietary aides or pills. Dedication and realistic goals are key.
