I need to travel up to Toronto for a family reunion next week. I've been up before, and I usually take the route from Raleigh up through Virginia to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, up by Pittsburgh and up through Erie into Buffalo. A friend told me about a faster way, going through Richmond Virginia, and up by Washington by I95 to 70.

I was wondering if any one has done the Washington route before? Is it faster or slower?

Any help is appreciated!

I travel down to Jacksonville all the time. I95 and I70 combination is what I use. I think it is easier. Going to Pittsburgh and Erie seems a little off the wierd. Because you are going too far west and then back tracking eastwards to Buffalo.

ok bud, here's the way I frequently go and it is pretty fast from Missouri. I jump on I-70 east to I-75 north. I cross the Ambassador bridge from Detroit, Michigan over to Windsor, Ontario. I don't know if it's ready now or not but they are putting a ferry from Erie, PA. to Port Dover, Ontario

It may be slightly faster, but if you're familiar with the other route I'd stay with that, you may end up missing an exit going a new way.
