In what country or part of the US? Canada also celebrates Thanksgiving (not the same date as the US), and menus vary widely depending on where you are, even in the States.
This is the traditional dinner (sorta Southern-ish) in my house:
Turkey and sometimes ham; cornbread stuffing; cranberry sauce; green bean casserole; corn; brocolli and rice casserole with cheese (if a certain friend is coming to dinner); candied yams; mashed potatoes and gravy; homemade hot rolls; pickles and olives; relish tray; sweet potato pie (if the same friend is with us); pumpkin pie; and pecan pie.

First thing you do is plan what you are having a couple days or a week before. Mostly the Thanksgiving Dinner includes, the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. REALLY IT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO MAKE.

Everybody included most everything, except we always also have hot apple cider for drinking. And don't forget Cool Whip for the pumpkin pie.
(And watching Christmas Story on TV after watching the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in New York)
