I could tell you to bring her flowers, chocolate, cards, etc, but that would be a crock, so I'll tell you what I like

All women love flowers, but we don't love them because its a special occassion, or because its expected. We love things that you give us, because you were thinking about us when you got it. Instead of regular roses, which are trite, bring her lillies that reminded you of her scent, or this cheap trinket because its the same color as her eyes. Tell her what she means to you, don't let her assume. We don't read minds, just as you don't. We like to know what you like about us. My favorite compliment from my boyfriend has always been "you smell so good". Its simple, its not fake, but it makes me smile.

Your answer to the "Other" question was brilliant. You are obviously a thinker and that may be your problem here. You may be intellectualizing this relationship thing which is not condusive to intellect - at least in the beginning.
You have a girlfriend. You know the full range of her interests and something of her hopes and dreams. If she is an intellect like you then you match some little gifts to a theme and surprise her from time to time. Keep her off guard by bringing up interesting or challenging things and then suggest a walk in a park just to get some "fresh air." If she is a romantic and you are intrigued with this because it is foreign to you, then you observe and ask her questions. "You seem to find the good, the beauty in things you observe. Can you teach me to be a better observer? I'm good on specifics but a bit dense in this optimism thing that is rather nice." She will not only feel special but feel special toward you.

If you were a bit more specific it would help but I'll try. The best thing to do is ask her, if she whinges at you cos you don't give her what she wants (if she hasn't already she probably will), then ask her what she likes, how she wants to be treated, you may feel slightly uncomfortable for doing it but is she has any maturity she'll really respect you for asking. I think most girls like surprises of any kind, I mean one's where they have absolutely no idea what's going on and bam! Not where you kind of hint there is cos that's just annoying, which is one reason why flowers are nice cos they're a surprise. But just be patient with yourself as well, you've got to really get to know her before you can blow her away.

if you WANT to do it... then it should be pretty easy.
several things i think make a keeper;
first, when you guys do things together... make sure you take turns deciding... while it's nice to do what she wants.. sometimes a girl just wants her guy to plan the date out.. even if it's just picking the movie or something simple...
bring her little gifts... depending on your finances bring flowers, or a single rose if you are a teen, or don't have a lot of money.
remember to be xtra sweet at that time of the month, have chocolate for her.
keep up your end of the conversation.
rub her feet.
if she wants to do something nice for you, let her... some guys think they have to do all the work, or none.. .but relationship means both people are involved.
compliment her.
hold doors for her.
call when you say you will.
stand up for her if necessary.
