Her Dr. is a great doc!!! We tried her out on different meds, and she became a different person, yes all of her work was done, and she already was top of her class as far as scoring goes, but she became a TWICKER hardcore. She was taken of the meds for the summer. But I took her to the eye Dr. she was saying that her eyes were bothering her. It turns out that she has a focising problem..... so could this be the the reason for her ADHD dig. or could she have both.... any info on this would be a plus TY SOOOOO MUCH!! I hate the thought of my daughter being a governmental Twicker.... and maybe soon then later, have thoughts of killing herself!!! SCARY

Twicker, is a person on meth. but she also lost over 7 pounds and wasnt eating right. The DOCTOR and her father and I took her off over the summer, we are testing her this month. But I dont like the "ticks" that she gets, kinda made her father and I think that she may have a different problem, and thus the story of the eye Dr. I have read a story saying something about people with a conjuctive visual prob. are 3x likely to be dignosed with ADHD. mother of 4

I don't know what a twicker problem is, But I have a son with ADHD, and we tried him on Meds, the teachers all thought it was great, he was doing great in school etc..., The only person that didn't like it was my son, he would say he felt like his heart was coming out of his chest, he started with ticks, We took him off the meds, he was only on for 2 weeks, but he developed anxiety. Now 10 years later, he is doing fine. We never put him on any other meds, just worked a little harder with him, and he has grown out of it. with no side effects.

My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5. She's 9 now so we've been dealing with it for a while. ADHD is like a movie projection real flashing images in the child's head constantly so they're unable to focus on one single solitary task at the time. They get extremely frustrated and lose interest in completing their work...especially tasks that involve concentration.

Now I am unsure as to what you are referring to when you say "twicker" but her vision should have nothing to do with ADHD. They're completely separate. A child who has ADHD should not be taken off of their medication during the summer because it can make it twice as difficult and frustrating for them when they return back to school in the fall. If her medication is administered and dosed correctly, then her mental status should not be affected whatsoever. That is what med rechecks are for every other month. You should discuss that further with her pediatrician.

What's a twicker? Never heard of it. There is a focusing problem but not in the way that you think. It's in the mind. You would have to have her tested for it by a specialist. It can be in conjunction with ADD or without.

I truly believe this country is funded by pharmaceutical companies. I truly believe they want us ALL on meds. I also think that children were made to be active, and it's HARD to sit still in school for 7- 8 hours. I think if there's a true medical problem, something in the diet can be altered, or there is a natural remedy. I don't doubt there is a link between these meds and all the health problems and suicides our country is seeing now. I am not an advocate of putting children on mind-altering medications. It destroys who they really are, makes them zombies. I feel sad for our next generation.

Hi tami_weis, My son is an "Acute Schizophrenic" I immediately signed up for a "class/course" in my "home town" to learn more about this "illness". My suggestion would be to locate the "mental-health" commitee/organization within your community. Also, go to your local library/internet as an alternative resource "information" tool. Learn as much as you can about your daughter's "illness". There is a lot of "research" being studied in the field of "Mental Illness". I don't mean to sound harsh...but it's "our" persistance and fortuiveness" (sp?) that puts [this] on the map! Mental Health issues are at the "bottom" of our "Legislatures" priorities! This "I" know from past experience...in my own town. Be Strong! XOXO Moonpie
