Yes, souls of the redeemed, when absent from the body, are "present with the Lord".
Yes, "no bodies" for that interim time; the bodies are in the cemeteries. But it is ONLY the bodies which are buried.
"no brains". If you have a brain here, and if you are "redeemed", then you will have your brain with you in Heaven.
Now, for some on Yahoo! Answers that have no brains here ... don't know, maybe they will be provided when you get "there".

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

yes and these souls, have the same brains and they can think and talk.
After a while, you would get a new body, so you can withstand God's glory, and live in that body forever.
SOMETIMES our love ones comeback to give a message like, "I'm OK, and in a good place, not to worry".

The energy body will still be the same as the physical body in form. until the Creator calls all things back into its body from which they were made.

It's not all souls man, we get new, heavenly bodies, much like Jesus did when he was resurected. When we are finaly in God's presence, we will know all He does. If they really are loved ones, you will know then without their body.

heaven, hell and soul are the matter of metaphysics. you can't really explain metaphysics in scientific or logical reasons! therefore it's mainly faith that counts for you to believe in hell and heaven.
you will know and meet your loved ones in heaven, IF you guys are going to heaven. heaven and hell are much more than we can imagine.

When You come out of your Body, You Still have Eyes, Nose, Ears etc.
