You need to sybolise your love, not a fashion. You dont want to wear now, something old, naff, and embarrassing in 30 years time. Thats why these designs are called classics, and left simple.
you need a band, not so wide, it dont let your skin breath underneath, it will prove unwearable. 5mm max, for a man, in average conditions. An office worker, can daily wear, different to a manual or factory worker, for instance...a chef, who's hands are in and out of water, a 3mm!
There is the top thickness as well, bespoke rings are heavier, of the same width, due to being thicker, top to bottom, that gives strenght, and durability.
an 18ct yellow, plain band of 4mm, shows a sophistically understated class and confidence. its the gentlemans wedding ring. If you have average size fingers, s,t,u,v, then at least five grames no less. as a minimum...this will determine its height thickness, as a minimum. 7 grammes would really be the ideal minimum.
Forget samuals and the chain stores. seek an independant, and tell them this,
You want an 18ct "blank", seamless, stretched or compressed, by no more than 2 sizes, to your size.
This basically means, a factory made ring, on a press, called a clink ring, and squeezed, just a little bit, from the nearest stock size, to your exact fit. The ring then, will be perfectly seamless, unwelded, yet not cast, with castings inherent problems..these rings are forged by machine, as washers, from sheet, called clink rings, and finnished by hand. The toughest, most long lasting, metallurgically sound, rings in the trade.
Oh yea..im a goldsmith of 20 years!

Keep it simple I say - unless you and the missus like something a bit fancy.
Green and Benz, I believe are quite popular, they do platinum but normally with a bit of a twist and a small diamond.
Who cares about a wedding band anyway, bring on the engagement ring!

Cheap, mindless b.a.s.t.a.r.d. How can you post a question like this on the internet? If you had a proper meaningful relationship which had reached the point of engagement you would have gone shopping for rings together or at the very least you would know her well enough to surprise her with something but to come on here . . . I feel sorry for you.

Have a look at Georg Jensen's (Danish) Fusion Collection as you can tailor your ring size accordingly. They are made up of 2, 3 or 4 interlocking bands of gold & you can include diamonds as well. The gold can be in one colour or 3 different shades, really lovely contemporary jewellry; the website is:

Congratulations!

Buddy, get real. If you buy her a ring according to some one else's opinion, she'll probably slap you. It is going to go on HER finger and it will be HER ring. Take her shopping and ask her to show you what SHE likes. What are you going to do on your wedding night, poll the hotel staff as to what the most popular position for sex is?
