Nipping is normal for a kitten..... just tell her NO when she does it, and gently push her face / mouth away from you or or hand when she does nip. If that doesn't work, try a few minutes of "ignoring" her.... just a "few" though. If all else fails.... try gently tapping her nose when she nips... just to get the point across that "nipping is bad"...........she'll eventually either get the point, or just stop doing it. But, by all means, like someone mentioned above, do NOT "encourage" this behavior.... if you let it happen.. it'll continue, and it WILL become a problem.

Don't encourage the nips! Tap his nose and say "NO!" I allowed my cat to do this thinking it was affection, and now he is 2 years old and nips me until he gets my attention. Nothing discourages the behavior now!

Does she nip or just rub her mouth on your hand enough to touch you with her teeth. We have a male that when I pet him at the end of my day he will rub his cheeks on my hand and eventually put almost half my hand in his mouth, but he is not biting me, he smells my sitters cats on me and is replacing it with his scent. Never bites me though just enough to get those scent glands to make contact with me. My husband thought he was, but I was able to educate him a little. Told him the cat thinks I'm his woman. LOL

My sweet Abbey-Normal will play with me, and place her teeth against my skin as if she were going to bite.. I tell her no, or the best word - gently! Thankfully, she is intelligent and minds.. I did this from day one.. she likes to play, but never has harmed any of us, including our small grandchildren..
When we first brought her home, we had another cat for to play with.. sadly, the other cat is no longer with us.
Abbey is fully clawed, and again, as sweet and gentle as she can be..
I think that in the beginning, when she may have pressed down with her teeth, I may have tapped her nose lightly with my fingertip.. and said no.. gently.

Abbey also seems to love paper balls that we make from any store receipts.. ..

Good luck with your cat!

I adopted a stray cat who is very affectionate but used to nip my hand whan I scratched his back. I would say sternly, Hey, don't bite me! and stop scratching him. It sounds silly but he doesn't do it any more.

My kitten is 6 months old and he bites my hand every morning while i'm still in bed...I asked the vet, he said there's nothing can be done. The only thing she suggested was

They sell it in vancouver's vet office for 80 CAD and 50 for the refill...Same product...what a scam...
