use a good hairspray, one that will mist not spray in a concentrated area that leaves you with a wierd spray spot. a NON aresol spray should do the trick. Massive hold hairspray form Bedhead holds well but sprays in a light and evenly distributed mist. Be sure to hold the spray about 6-8 inches away from your head. If you ever wear your hair straight, spray the spray into your HANDS and smooth it down over your hair but its harder to do that with curly hair.

Stay clear away from very sticky hairsprays as these tangle your hair up too much. Find one that is not too strong, a mild hold and spray from a distance, not too close to the hair. Also, only use it when you really need too.

Instead of hairspray which is normally alcohol based and can damage your hair, try Marcel Curl Wax. Very inexpensive and you put it on each piece of hair right before you curl it. It should hold the curl for about 1-2 wks.
