I will answer your question about what the Muslim believes and show you Jesus Christ in contrast.
A Contrast Between Mohammed and Jesus
Mohammed's method was COMPULSION; Christ's aim was voluntary CONVERSION (Acts 3:19).
Mohammed's disciples killed for the faith; Christ's disciples were killed for their faith (Acts 12:2; 2 Tim. 4:7).
Mohammed was a prophet of war; Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Mohammed promoted persecution against the "infidels"; Christ forgave and converted the chief persecutor (1 Tim. 1:13-15).
Mohammed was a taker of life; Christ is the giver of life (John 10:27-28).
Mohammed and his fellow warriors murdered thousands; Christ murdered none but saved many (compare John 12:48).
Mohammed practiced FORCE; Christ preached FAITH (John 6:29,35).
Mohammed was a WARRIOR; Christ is a DELIVERER (Col. 1:13; 1 Thess.1:10).
Mohammed conquered his enemies with the sword; Christ conquered his enemies with another kind of sword, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Heb. 4:12; Acts 2:37).
Mohammed said to the masses, "Convert or die!"; Christ said, "Believe and live!" (John 6:47; 11:25-26).
Mohammed was swift to shed blood (Rom. 3:15-17); Christ shed His own blood for the salvation of many (Eph. 1:7).
Mohammed preached "Death to the infidels!"; Christ prayed "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).
Mohammed declared a holy war (Jihad) against infidels; Christ achieved a holy victory on Calvary's cross (Col. 2:14-15) and His followers share in that victory (John 16:33).
Mohammed constrained people by conquest; Christ constrained people by love (2 Cor. 5:14).
Modern terrorists derive their inspiration from Mohammed and carry out their despicable atrocities in the name of his god Allah; Christians derive their inspiration from the One who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9).
Some modern day disciples of Mohammed responded to the terrorist attacks by cheering in the streets; modern day disciples of Christ are deeply grieved at past atrocities carried out by those who were "Christians" in name only (the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc.).
Many Muslims are peaceful and peace-loving because they do not strictly follow the teachings of their founder; many Christians are peaceful and peace-loving because they do strictly follow the teachings of their Founder (Rom. 12:17-21).
Mohammed called upon his servants to fight; Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight . . .but now is My kingdom not from here" (John 18:36)
Mohammed ordered death to the Jews (see A.Guillaume, The Life of Muhammad, Oxford University Press [1975], p. 369); Christ ordered that the gospel be preached "to the Jew first" (Rom. 1:16).
The Koran says, "Fight in the cause of Allah" (Qu'ran 2.244); the Bible says, "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal" (Eph. 6:12; 2 Cor. 10:4).
The Koran says, "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them" (Qu'ran 9.5); Christ said, "Preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
The Koran says, "I will inspire terror into the hearts of unbelievers" (Qu'ran 8.12); God inspires His terror (fear, reverential awe) into the hearts of believers (Isaiah 8:13).
The Koran (Qu'ran) is a terrorist manual which condones fighting, conflict, terror, slaughter, and genocide against those who do not accept Islam; the Bible is a missionary manual to spread the gospel of peace to all the world (Rom. 10:15).
Mohammed's Mission was to conquer the world for Allah; Christ's mission was to conquer sin's penalty and power by substitutionary atonement (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18).
Mohammed considered Christ a good prophet; Christ pronounced Mohammed to be a false prophet (John 10:10; Matt. 24:11).
Mohammed claimed that there was but one God, Allah; Christ claimed that He Himself was God (John 10:30-31; John 8:58-59; John 5:18; John 14:9).
Mohammed's Tomb: OCCUPIED! Christ's tomb: EMPTY!
A Contrast Between Allah and Yahweh
Allah was created by Mohammed in the 7th Century AD; Yahweh CREATED Heaven & Earth BEFORE THERE WAS TIME
Allah is the god of Islamic people; Yahweh is The One True God of ALL and Owner of the fullness of Heaven and Earth
Allah is the god of the Quran; Yahweh is the God of the Bible
Allah is the god of HATE; Yahweh is the God of LOVE
Allah is the god of Vengeance; Yahweh is the God of Forgiveness
Allah needs his people to fight for him; Yahweh fights for His people
Allah can lie; Yahweh Can NOT Lie
Allah can be CAPRICIOUS and Unknowable; Yahweh is TRUSTWORTHY, does NOT Change, and honors His Word above His Name, and desires that we come to KNOW Him as our Father.
Allah has NO Savior; Yahweh gives FREE Salvation through the Blood Sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son Yeshua The Messiah, Jesus The Christ.
Allah MIGHT give salvation by our WORKS; Yahweh offers salvation as a FREE Gift of His Grace through the work of His Son The Lord Jesus Christ.
Allah has no mediator; Yahweh gave Yeshua, Jesus, as the one and only Mediator
Allah does not talk to people; Yahweh communicates with His people
Allah gives NO WAY to be certain of eternal life; Yahweh gives ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY of Eternal Life
Allah is the moon god; Yahweh is the Creator of Heaven and Earth
Allah is the god of War; Yahweh is the God of Peace
Allah is the god of bondage; Yahweh is the God of Freedom
Allah is a god of religion; Yahweh is the God of Relationship
Allah Commands Murder of infidels; Yahweh Forbids Murder of Anyone
Allah permits 4 wives; Yahweh forbids Adultery
Allah allows no certainty of Eternal Life; Yahweh gives Absolute Certainty of Eternal Life
Allah calls for a walk in the Flesh; Yahweh calls for a walk in the Spirit
Allah is concerned with the Outward Appearance; Yahweh is concerned with obedience from the Heart
Allah says the 6th day is holy; Yahweh says the 7th day is holy
Allah AKA moon god, Lucifer, Satan, the devil; Yahweh AKA, God of Abraham, God of Israel, and God Almighty, and The God and Father of The Lord Jesus Christ

The Jewish and Christian God are basically or somewhat the same.
Islamics "claim" Allah (which is also the name of a PAgan type God) is the same god, BUT ALLAH didn't create the universe
Also the Islamic religion and Allah was not documented until 7 AD, while the Jewish Bible was documented at least 30 BC or no further.
The origin of the Jewish Bible is 5,900+ years from today.
The Christian Bible dates to 3 AD or 400 years before Muhammad and Islam existed.
Muhammad incorporated Jewish and Christian elements into the Islamic Quran, but they are not the same as we know them.
Jesus was not the son of God but merely a prophet and he was substituted with a double when crusified.
Let's just say it's a very Debatable issue and you have a college teacher you is trying to assert this as an absolute.
I am leary of all teachers who do that.
Teaching is about different points of view, not trying to make a hard and fast rule when there is great debate on an issue
Catholics
Jews
Protestants
All don't accpet the View arbitrarily that Allah is the same God.
Theorteticaly it could be, but in reality it is a hotly debated issue.

As a fellow-Christian, I know that Judaism and Christianity do believe in the same God- at least on the Christian side. Christians believe that the Jews' god came to live among men as Jesus Christ.....
Regarding what Muslims believe, I'm not so sure. There are some characteristics that they ascribe to Allah that match the Christian/Jewish god- father/creator of mankind, all-powerfull, all-knowing, that the Almighty has spoken to chosen men known as prophets, etc... From what I understand, they also have a different set of holy writings/scriputures, they worship differently (Obviously!). I've been told they also have a very specific health code, comparable in spiritual value to the Jewish Kosher code...
Muslims will say that Jehovah and Allah are the same, just different names for the same Being... I don't really know.

You might want to do a little studying on Allah but the are some belief that Allah comes from a pagan god know as the moon god. There have been some old findings that support this but I don't have all the details.
In some respects there are some thing that all 3 faiths claim to. Many of the old testament prophets. Both Jews and Muslims believe that Jesus was a good man and even a prophet but they don't accept him as th Son Of God.
Some of their faith is rooted in the old testament but they do not see Jews or Christians as been true believers.

What I've heard is that "Allah" is the Arabic pronunciation (yes, or translation) of the Hebrew "Elo" which we generally see in the Hebrew plural "Elohim." Originally, they all referred to the same God. However, over the centuries, interpretations and ways of following have changed so drastically that we no longer all worship the same God.
See what you can find on the subject of Islam that's written by Don Richardson. He's worked with many different languages and cultures and really knows what he's talking about. I'm sure Google or Dogpile can help you locate some of what he's written on Islam. He has written books on several subjects and cultures.

No, they are not the same... To start of , we must know WHO is the AUTHOR of their koran..They say it is God... And then lets see as to who is the AUTHOR of the BIBLE ? The words authorised in these two books are not the same therefore , common sense says their Authors are not the same too. How can the same author have two different views ? That would be contradictory.. and the God of the Christians is not such... He is the same yesterday , today , and tomorrow... never would one jot or word change from his word till heaven and earth pass away . That is why we say that God is ETERNAL .. Alpha and Omega ( Revelation 1 ) . In II Timothy 3 : 16 ..ALL scripture is given by inspiration of GOD...the Author of the BIBLE... John 1 : 1 .. In the beginning was the WORD ... JESUS... ( verses 10 , 14 )... Somewhere else states that we must TEST the Spirit whether it be of God ... Also .. God says that there is no other God but Him alone... Also in the Bible it says that there are many small gods that have mouths but could not speak ( idols )... etc.. sorry I couldn't provide the texts for these yet unless you will be interested to talk more later on....so to me it is the authorship of the Sacred Word that tells me that this God in heaven is different from any other gods/authors... Also they believe that Jesus is only a prophet and not the son of God... The epistles of Paul , they do not belive in , yet authored by the Spirit of God who moved in these people to write such ... Finally , Jesus is God and saver and will soon return to take us home ...and yet they do not Believe in Him and so will not be saved because there is no other name under the sun through which one would be saved ....May God Bless you

They might as well be 3 different Gods because they do not all agree on the same route of salvation. I don't even know how we can say that Judaism and Christianity have the same God -when the Jews do not acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Judaism has repeatedly rejected it's own God and embraced the Law of Moses in his place. Islam is a whole different ball of wax. They don't have the same bible or beliefs whatsoever. Christianity believes in a Holy trinity - and the other two do not hold that belief. So, no, they do not all believe in the same God and it is dangerous to think so.

I don't have a website to back up the fact that I know they're different. I assume that you go to a non-Christian college. If you google "how are allah and god different" you'll get a number of sites - I didn't look at all of them, but it's a good place to start. If you go to a local bookstore, you can find the book "The Compact Guide to World Religions". I think that would help you more than websites in general.

The Reason we have this Thing Called "wanting to worship something" inside of us---and Alot of People get off the Track and go for the Moon, or Sun or something Else----is because WE knew GOD befor HE sent us to the Earth to be Born, then WE (all of us) got Messed Up. The Wanting to Know GOD is Still in Their---and HE is the Only Thing That will Fit in There Perfectly.
EveryThing Else we try to Worship is an Idol.

Muslim, Jews and Christians all worship the same God. All of them even recognize that Jesus did exist, only Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God. Allah is just the Arabic name, just like the the different names Christians have for God are Jehovah and Yahweh. If someone is saying Yahweh, they mean the same thing as someone who says Jehovah or someone else who just says God.

I dislike that statement as well. All trace their roots to Abraham, and are monotheistic. They have similar historic beginnings. From there the religions diverge.
Judaism believes that God's promise rested on Isaac and God blessed Israel and they are God's chosen people, accorded with special revelation.
Islam traces its roots through Ishmael, who you may remember is Abraham's first born, but by Hagar, not Sarah.
Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism.
Let's look at specific differences. In Islam, God is a monad, that is a single entity. Allah is also impersonal and unreachable by mortals.
In Judaism, God has revealed Himself, and will again and is personal.
In Christianity, God is triune, and intimately personal. God lives inside believers.
Someone once said, "in Islam, God is out there; in Judaism, God is down here; in Christianity, God is in here (the heart)."
The nature of God is quite different in each religion.
