Well, for starters, don't refer to her as "spoiled" to her face. Even if she is. Stepmothers start out with a strike against them and you don't want to add to that.
Try to see things from her perspective and if you have a hard time with that, ask her what she thinks. Let her know that you aren't going anywhere and that you are not the bad guy. Try to like her. After all, she was created by the man you married, so she can't be that bad, can she? Communication goes a long way in any relationship, but this is one instance where it cannot be stressed enough! Always leave communication open and be prepared to forgive her for anything she may do. Once she sees you're a good person, she's more likely to stop acting badly.

You only think she is spoiled because she is your stepdaughter, I bet you would cater to your own daughter the same way. You knew she was the extra baggage that came with your husband, so don't complain about it now. Just zip your mouth and let hubby pamper the kid. Maybe you are a little jealous.

threaten to send her to a foreign boarding school. or just leave her in your country when you and your spouse come home from a visit.
no seriously, talk to your spouse about it. If he/she doesnt' want to listen to reason or find a way to help you deal with her, then ship her off to boarding school, or tell your spouse that you can't live like that anymore and something needs to be done.

You are not her parent and you don't really have a right to discipline her. Naturally she resents you because you took her dad, but you have to be as kind as you can. Leave the discipline to her parents. The fact that you are a foreigner has nothing to do with it.

You being a foreigner and her being an American has nothing to do with your situation.
You need to discuss this situation with your spouse. There are no quick and easy answers.

hmm.... hard one my stepdad and I have known eachother for 8 years and he's always on my *** I will not listen till he gets my point. try and see where shes comming from. do something for her and if shes smart and spoiled shell see and then she will do something you want. not about age or anything its about RESPECT
