Wood ducks are the best eating.
The most fun too shoot are green wing teal. Little buggers fly 90 mph.
Don't shoot the canvas back. Endangered species.
As far a limit, 1 drake wood duck, per day 2 in the freezer.
Your state might be different.

my favorite duck that ive shot was a nice drake pintail, he has been on the top of my list of ducks that ive wanted for years and finally got one last season, but the next duck on my list is either the hooded merganser or a nice bufflohead (also called bufflehead) duck. Good luck to ya in the field this season

I have helped my Grandpa train labs in the past. Teach the dog the "stay" command and then throw a duck-shaped toy. Naturally, he will want to go after the toy, do not let him retrieve it until you give the "go" command. Sooner or later he will learn not to retrieve things without your say so. That is just the method we used, I am sure there are plenty more that you can search online. Remember to use positive reinforcement when he does something right.

I don't hunt, but I shoot very often at a local outdoor range, we've got mosquittos out there in the summer I'd LOVE to shoot if that counts, if not, I'd love to bag a Pterodactyl.

It is important to be aware of your local hunting regs as to what is legal and bag limits.

Where I hunt it is prefered to shoot greenheads (drake mallards), the hens are limited to just one per hunter. Canvasbacks are a very good eating bird also. But again, only one per hunter.

Register and enroll in a Hunter Education Class in your area and they can assist you in identifying different species as well as explain game regs and bag limits.
