Yes they do. But you can't blame them indiscriminately. Back in Mao Zedong's regime in the 50s-70s many chinese people lived in poverty. Many starved to the point where they had to live off the land to survive. Thats why you see many odd ingrediants in some chinese cookbooks such as lotus root. People that live near the sea had to live off fish, but since fish you catch were always siezed by the government, the people had to eat odd sealife like jelly fish or pufferfish. People living in-land had to eat birds, frogs, dogs, cats or whatever if they were starving and had nothing to eat.

As a normal Chinese I can tell you, of course not. I think Only extreme poor people will do this.

A mate of mine that was Vietnamese had eaten cat and dog before.

When my dad was a police officer back in the 1970's and Asians started moving into southern California, he would get several calls of pets gone missing. My dad would know exactly where to go and ended up telling a lot of Asian families that American people use cats and dogs as pets and not food. He would always give warnings but could not arrest because the "evidence" was already gone.

China actually recently outlawed it in some places, because there was a huge rat problem. But, yes they do. Dog is a little more common.

YES some chinese still eat cats.......they eat everything like dogs, snakes, birds, cats, bears....you name it. but thats only like a really small amount people mostly the aboriginals, the elder generations and people with ur...unique taste......the aboriginals do whatever they like cause they are like "isolated" so yea...i dont mean to like discriminate against the aboriginals but yea...its true. older people they just dont care.....i dont really know why. the government doesnt really seem to care...they dont take legal actions unless its like really rare animals. i know that sucks...

Never seen them eat cats but I have seen them eat puppies....its on the movie faces of death, they pick out a nice plump fat puppy and kill like you would a chicken, and they cut it up the same way.
