You have to have a clean past and go get a work visa. Then while you are here you need to get the ball rolling on the rest of the process. If you become an established resident, this will really help you. Don't wait and wait until your visa expires and then whine about it or use that for an excuse to be illegal. Get a job, get a place to live and make a life. This will get you on the way to being a citizen. If it is worth it to you, you have no problem. If its not, then stay there or come here temporary.

Go to the local American consulate, fill out the paprwork, they'll contact you back for interviews, make you take a physical. if youve met all the requirments you'll be called back and issued an entrace visa. Those last 2 years, then in the U.S. you get another one for 4 years, and I believe after a total of 4 years if you wish to become a citizen you attend classes and take the tests, or you can pay 300 bucs every 4 years to get the visa renewed.

They have to go to this website
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm
figure out how to register for a meeting (time slots are very limited)
decipher the rules and regulations
comeup with the cash for fees
Prove that they have skills to go the visa route
It's not that easy. It's damn confusing.

They can't.
It doesn't happen.
All kinds of people are going to tell you that you apply and wait and pay fees and blah blah blah. Its not true. Yes, you can go that route and if you are lucky enough to get a visa its as good as winning the lotto! Your odds of getting one are about the same as winning the lotto. That is the Truth.

You fill out an application, pay a lot of money, put up with a lot of BS and 4 years later they may or may not give it to you.
