You might try chewing on a bar of Irish Spring. That may help you more than anything right now.

I think that you make a valid point. Btw, wouldn't you have to admit others are trying to force their beliefs on christians too in this "forum"? We need some sort of truce. Let this be a place of exchange of ideas and experiences. All will not appreciate those experiences personally, but we can make this a place of positive meaning.
I would be willing to bet that if many of us worked together at a job site or some sort of sports team, we could find a common ground and get along very well. Doesn't mean we'd all be best of buddies, but there would be respect and a sincere interest. Is this not worth trying?

It isn't my belief that people should actually force God and religion on people. Unfortunately, churches everywhere are encouraging this sort of thing. Churches aren't always right. Lots of times people are hypocrites. I know a man who said he can't be at the point where he can have a so called 'religion' because of what he's seen from all sides of religion-hypocrisy. So I'll tell you what- it isn't about religion, its about Jesus. Religion is only a word, powerless by any means. I understand if you hate me for this, but during your whole life I guarantee you many will try to tell you about all sorts of religions. Life'll still be fine, maybe even great, but when your done......you'll remember me and everyone else. No one is forcing you, you have your own choices, your own freedom, and yourself to make your OWN DECISIONS. We're just telling you.

No one ever "forces" God on you. What happens is that people try to convince you of God's Truth, or share their faith with you, and you reject it without good reason. Therefore, you appear foolish to them. You simply get angry instead of rationally defending a foolish belief. "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' "
You must understand that Satan hates God for all he's worth, so if you share that emotion, then you are on the side of Satan. One day Satan will be burned up in Hellfire, and anyone who agrees with him will go with him. Do you really want to be there? Do you believe so badly that there is no God, that you'd be willing to die for that belief? Or have you simply been a victim of bad doctrines that have been perpetrated by several "Christian" churches that aren't even in the Bible?
The doctrine of the wicked burning for all eternity in Hell has done more to turn people away from God than any other doctrine, and yet you won't find it in the Bible. That doctrine comes from ancient Greek and Roman paganism. The Bible tells us that Hellfire will not come from beneath, but that it will come down from above and consume sinners (and Satan) into ash immediately. They will not burn forever, but the results will be forever. Our God is not a cruel God - it will be like putting a vicious dog to sleep. It is a strange act for Him, but it's something His justice demands.

I totally agree with you. Having said that...
1. You're way too defensive. YOU asked the question.
2. The "ur" and "r" are childish. No one takes people seriously
who use these shortcuts outside of IMs
3. The above statement applies to correct grammar and spelling.

I agree with what you're saying and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. In my opinion, the "preaching" Christians who do stuff like that are doing it for a self-esteem reason. They do it to make themselves feel superior, like they have a "truth" that no one else has, and it's their obligation to "enlighten" everyone. I guess it makes them feel important that they "get it" and no one else does. Of course, there are some really great Christians out there too, but the Christians who condemn others for believing differently are more lost than ANY atheist, agnostic, or whoever.

I would suspect that the majority of people who are sincerely into their religion are into it because they believe it to be Truth. When you know something, & it is helping you not only now but in the future...the tendency is to want to share that with others so they, too, can profit.
I think this may be why people tend to stuff religion down the throats of others.
Personally, I'm Jewish & I do not believe in forcing G-d on others. When they want Him; they'll come looking.

i am a Christian and i don't beleive in forcing my believes on anyone. i have friends who are Muslim, Jehovahs Witness, Jewish, Catholic and I am married to an Athiest. I am not ashamed to tell people i am a Christian but I respect their beleives. I only talk about mine when they ask me a question about my faith. i also will defend my faith to people who criticize it but I would never tell people that they are going to hell. that is not my call.
