With 2,000,000 miles of safe road driving behind me (that's four times to the moon and back), I am rarely bothered about speed.
What frightens me are kids in fast cars who are totally unaware of the dangers, and who fail to react to changing road circumstances.
There is a local kid who is fast....very fast....but he is absolutely on the ball and as safe as anyone else on the roads; if a bit intimidating. He is part of an elite breed of "naturally gifted drivers."
Little old ladies terrify me when they do crazy things at 20mph.
Women drivers, with all respect, are less aware of things, but at least drive slowly by and large, and tend to have little accidents rather than cause accidents which result in a mass cull of the surrounding population.
Pizza deilvery boys don't drive....they aim!
Drunk/drugged drivers are by far the worst, and I have not the slightest mercy for them.
Nope! Speed, in itself, doesn't worry me very much, but inattentive driving certainly does!

You may like this one. I drove a semi for some years. I hauled a tank trailer. Since I left full, and when I delivered I was empty, it was not as hard as some truck driving jobs. When you drive every day, you see some strange stuff. People eating, talking on the cell phone, etc. I had my gov set for 80 MPH. Yep, 80 MPH at a weight of 80,000 pounds. I went like heck all the time since I did not get paid by the hour. I got paid by the load. I drove fast and never got a ticket. I never ate or tried to read or put on makeup while I drove. I think if you pay attention, like race car drivers do, you can drive as quickly as you want with no problem. The key point is, of course, the attention.

People who drive fast are not speeders. Try spell check! Now the #1 cause of traffic accidents following to close. second running traffic control devices, Third speed, Fourth and fifth Cell phones and drinking and driving. When the speeders have horrendious crashes they kill mostly them selfs because they have both hands on the wheel.

Four factors contribute to the vast majority of collisions. In ascending order they are:
1. Equipment Failure
2. Roadway Design
3. Poor Roadway Maintenance
4. Driver Behavior

Both play a part, go hand in hand. One is just as bad as the other.
