An Army soldier was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by a roadside bomb, the US military said Monday, bringing to fifteen the number of US troops killed in Iraq since Friday.
The Baghdad-based soldier died late Sunday night on the outskirts of the capital, the military said. His last words were " I didn't know it would end up this way".
That followed the deaths earlier Sunday of two Marines assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5, killed in fighting in Iraq's volatile al-Anbar province, the US military said Monday.
No further details were released and the names of the soldier and Marines were being withheld pending notification of their families. The American troops are doing their best but it looks like Vietnam is here once again. It is reported the troops have a hang dog look as they do their best in Iraq.

A lot of troops were killed in Germany after the Germans signed the unconditional surrender too. Just once, do some research on things before you ask your stupid questions.

i don't normally answer questions like this, but i will this time. the biggest problem we are running into is an uncensored media who can dictate what they brodcast. they only show negative parts, and only certain parts of the story. why are people dying. well, one, unlike any other war, it isn't soldier on soldier. it is soldier vs bomb. and when it is a bomb, it is a big bomb. i can't explain how big, until you feel one and pray that you made it though. people talk about losing vietnam and korea. vietnam was a crisis not a war. war was never declared and we were never allowed to go on the offensive. that was a complete defensive crisis. the insurgents in iraq do not fight in the open. they are not dumb in that state. they know fighting one on one, they will die. they hide, and shoot. make bombs and bury them. use civilians as cover. they are affraid and that is the only way they can fight, by hiding and taking pop shots. to ask a question to everyone here or just a thought. what would have happened during WW2 when we took Omaha beach and complete brigades were taken out. if they media would have been there at that time and had the communist news network (CNN) we would have had the same thing we do now. there are things that the people don't need to know, not because they don't deserve, but because they will not understand. i spend 12 months in a red zone in iraq, i saw bad stuff and a lot of good, but the images in my head will not go away, and i can't explain them to you all. the only way to understand is to live it. just say a prayer for the troops that they stay safe, and continue to fight the good fight. they are dedicated and strong. and to the end, they will always have my support because no person on this planet should have to live the way they do in the middle east.
